Soybean suppliers have contracts with their buyers, and you cannot instantly increase production. You also ignore the economic costs of increasing production. So let’s leave libtardland an look at reality.
1-So China tries to replace all American bean from other growers. But most of those beans are already sold to non Chinese markets. China can pay a premium to the owners of these markets paying more for the beans they eat. Works, but these markets are now free to buy replacement beans from America! Results: China loses, the secondary markets win, and America breaks even!
2-China tries to get these bean growers to produce more beans. First, they have to wait for the harvest part of the next growing season. Their people experience protean shortages! Next, the producers now have to expand the growing areas. This means marginal land is cultivated with increased production costs. Or other crops are replaced with bean increasing the price of these prices. Therefore China again pays more for beans. America? We have a year to find customers for our cheaper beans. US even, China protein starved and trade deficit!
Bottom line soybean supply is fixed at any price point. Chinese demand is fixed because all other protein sources are substantially higher.
Results higher market volatility in world soybean commodity markets with traders winning (some winners and some losers), farmers breaking even (some winners and losers), and China loses: less protein at higher costs.
“We’re going to lose a soybean trade war”, is only accurate if spoken in Mandarin!

The Chinese have 18% of the worlds population and account for 17% of world GDP.
