I literally taught someone to create (well expound) their Sunday school lessons using chat GPT. It was all pretty legit information.

Regardless, people are now the bait. The privilege of being human has been rescinded from us which is why we are now relying upon something nonhuman. They even call it artificial.

I have theology discussions with ChatGPT and Claude. They both not only do it, they take the tone of a fervent, orthodox (little o) Christian instead of a neutral resource. There are all sorts of side discussions and words of caution about faith and AI but this is not that.

The internet is not a great place to gain understanding of anything. Take this thread for example. It started with a tweet claiming "Chat GPT simply refuses to quote or read the Bible" and a video of a purported example, but the OP didn't try to verify the claim. So far we've had a few people claim the opposite. Nobody on either side directly supported their claim by personally prompting GPT to quote or read the Bible and pasting the response as evidence.

One thing that I don't like about what the internet has become in places like this is how everyone needs a source for everything or people simply don't believe it. Like, if you create a thread saying, "hey yall, X happened." You'll get 20 assholes rushing into the thread screaming, "Nice source, you fricking liar!"

I'm not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing with what I said. Opinions are fine, but on the internet it's very difficult to distinguish opinion from fact. Direct sources are helpful in doing that, which is what NC Tiger did. Sometimes twitter is wrong, sometimes the people criticizing twitter are wrong. That's why I said the internet is not a great place to gain understanding; most people are light on verification of what they claim, so it takes a lot of reading and work to separate the opinions from the facts.

For me, the burden / responsibility of proof is on the original claimant for something as easily verifiable as this.

It seems like people regularly update their ChatGPT instructions to make it do something outrageous and then post about it. ChatGPT can have deep theological discussions if you want it to or it can literally be a demon. Just depends on what you you tell it to do when interacting with you
