At this point they just want money in their election campaign to spend it.

They do not understand how to connect with enough votes to win in Florida unless they got a plan to cheat.

Good grief = there is probably no better one credential to have than that of honorably discharged military veteran. I'd put that above ANY single university 'degree' - especially one in merely 'education.'

100% this. Of all the people that I have interviewed, almost never do I look at college degree. I would much rather ex military or ex athlete than most degrees.

The personality type to make a mistake, get corrected, and go back to work without worrying about hurt feelings is what I want. It is amazing how few people have this mindset.

In about half the states the Lt Gov and Governor are elected together on the same ticket (so yes, just like the President and VP). Florida is one of those states.

The idea of having a “running mate“ in a gubernatorial race initially confused me, because Texas elects the governor and lieutenant governor separately (they have very different and often unrelated job responsibilities).

For anyone else who was confused, I found the following on ballotpedia re Florida.
quote:

Although gubernatorial candidates are not required to have a running mate for the primaries, the state constitution requires a joint candidacy for the general election.

There sure is a push to prop up teachers.

I've got an education degree. Its so damn simple. Educators don't deserve undue respect. Of course, its a women thing.

This is a VERY low bar.

If they can do this "Passing score on a Florida subject area examination;" then why does "Minimum of 60 college credits with a 2.5 grade point average;" matter?

She just has to be trying to lose at this point.

The majority of teachers are a liberal cult. And they're fricking LOUD ABOUT IT on social media and IRL. The mom Karens listen to them, since they're "teachers" and "smart".

The angle here is that they're trying to convince suburban Karens and Kevins that the Republican candidates don't understand anything about the education system and therefore aren't worthy of your vote. I have liberal family who are "teachers" (socialist indoctrinators) who are openly practicing this tactic. Believe it or not, it works. They'll have thousands of angry comments on every FB post they make about how "this candidate is a dumb redneck who knows nothing about education... You don't care about muh chirrens if you vote for him!"

Yeah, this is a deal in some states like Virginia and New York.

A friend of mine has claimed her grandfather was nearly elected Lt Governor of a western state but failed because the governor at the top of the ticket blew the election. Given her grandfather was an a-hole, I don’t think anyone minded him losing too much.

How many veterans have actual teaching experience from their military days? The answer is, a lot of them. Training is pretty important in the service. If you're a decent soldier, sailor, airman, or crayon eater, odds are good you'll do at least one stint as an instructor.

Is it limited to veterans? If you have a clean record and can meet all of those other requirements, why not civilians without education degrees.

Well for starters, one of the best things about making Veterans teachers is that training and teaching was core to being a Soldier, especially as an NCO. Personally I find it insulting that this lady basically says all we are good at is combat. Well guess how we got to be good warfighters, training and development. The people providing that training and development were our fellow military members. We can follow a syllabus and curriculum better than most

Surely you can't be for mask mandates for kids in school?

I know you like the contrarian thing, but without a caveat you seem to be supporting things too crazy even for you.
