Despite renting out the venue, Southern Star Brewing Company announced its decision to cancel the event in a post on Twitter on Friday.
quote:

“No more,” the brewery’s statement began. “Southern Star Brewery is an apolitical organization, but we feel that this event doesn’t reflect our own values and we could not in good faith continue to rent our space for the event on 1/26. We don’t do rallies, we make beer for people who like beer.”
quote:

Defiance Press & Publishing alleged the brewery pulled out of the event under pressure from a Texas grocery store chain, H-E-B.
quote:

It was not until H-E-B threatened to end their business with them that they decided to pull our event. Clearly, money talks and values walk for Southern Star,” Defiance Press founder David Roberts said.

I doubt H-E-B really cares what a local brewery does.

If that's true they had no choice. No small texas beewery company is going to lose the HEB account.

Why would HeB get involved in something like this in a place like Texas. Makes no sense. I think it’s the brewery trying to save face.

You must not understand how the ESG racket works yet. You will eventually learn, it will effect everyone.

If it is truly a small Texas brewery HEB is in all likelihood not a meaningful part of their business. A friend has a brewery here in DFW and they are in HEB. The agreement is basically what they can send to HEB (think overflow) is what HEB accepts.

I think we Texans should push tf back on HEB. In fact, I may write my first email of this type ever.

EDIT:

Glad I read the follow-up article. These craft breweries are pretty full of near hipsters so I am surprised the event was there to begin with.

It was the brewery not HEB.

The CEO of Southern Star Brewery said the cancellation was prompted primarily by concerns from local patrons rather than pressure from a “woke mob” or distributors such as H-E-B.

This is the first indication I've have about HEB.

They are my food store - but that is primarily because it is more convenient. Get my drugs there too.

Going to check this out - especially the Rittenhouse assertion.

Will go to Kroger.

Woke corporations using threats and intimidation to keep weaker businesses 'in check'.

Hate to be part of cancel culture but I would no longer go to the brewery.
