….And right on cue the late-evening reporting indicates that tomorrow the CDC will announce the vaccine doesn’t work (against the Delta variant). Hence, the need for masks, social distancing and/or possibly lockdowns 2.0. Reminder, when the Intelligence Branch needs to get the public relations engaged they use the New York Times.

I don't think there is a delta variant, I just think delta variant is the way the Biden administration can shift blame and say "its not our fault!".

The vaccines work far better than the masks.

The masks are basically like screen doors on a submarine.

Such a solid source, lol.

You don't really believe this is going to happen do you?

+95% of hospitalizations and deaths are from non vaccinated people. The vaccine is working properly, its not perfect, but way better than not having it.

Do you believe this? Or do you just want to believe it?

quote:

There is also data showing that COVID hospitalizations offer no distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated; and in the example of LA county the percentage of vaccinated people hospitalized with COVID is identical to the percentage of vaccinated people in the general population. [70% of population vaccinated, 70% of COVID hospitalization patients are vaccinated] The vaccine offers no benefit from the standing of hospitalization… or so it appears.

In San Francisco 77% of the population is vaccinated and 83% of the COVID hospitalizations at University of California SF Hospital are previously vaccinated [link]. Again, highlighting the vaccine offers no benefit from the standpoint of hospitalization.

Additionally, there’s data from a recent pfizer study where 44,000 patients were studied. 22,000 were given the vaccine and 22,000 received the placebo. The results amid both groups was almost identical.

Two COVID deaths in 22,000 for non-vaxxed (death rate of .0009%), and one COVID death out of 22,000 for the vaccinated group (death rate .00009%). In essence, COVID is not that dangerous and has a very high survival rate depending on co-morbidities or pre-existing medical issues.

NYTs:

That conclusion dealt Americans a heavy blow: People with so-called breakthrough infections — cases that occur despite full vaccination — of the Delta variant may be just as contagious as unvaccinated people, even if they have no symptoms.

Thats the point, with the vaccine you can still catch it(lower chance by all accounts) but your chance of anything serious are so significantly lower.

Do you understand what that’s saying

“If your condom breaks, you have just as much chance at getting pregnant as someone who doesn’t wear a conform”

That doesn’t mean you have just as much chance at getting pregnant if you wear a condom

WaPo says it's coming.
quote:

The CDC has some sobering data on how the delta variant is behaving.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said earlier this week that she has research indicating vaccinated people infected with delta are carrying high viral loads — a new phenomenon, compared with how the original version of the virus behaved.

This is very very different from OP saying they will announce the vaccine doesn't work. Being able to spread it does not mean it doens't work. Serious cases are still very low even with the higher viral loads.

Correct. Unlike a year ago, we have some method of defense here.

And I think people are just going to ignore the mandates now.

CTH is so fricking sloppy. Unclear if it's stupidity or intentionally dishonest.

"83% of hospitalizations at UCSF hospital are vaccinated!"

And then proceeds to link to a graphic showing 83% of NEW CASES among students/staff at UCSF are vaccinated

If the hospitalization percentage is the same as the percentage of vaccinated in the general population then the vaccine clearly IS WORKING. This is because almost all of the vulnerable have been vaccinated. In other words, the cohort we expect to produce almost all of the deaths is only producing its pro rata share of deaths. Why so low? BECAUSE THEY’VE BEEN VACCINATED!

But it does mean they can no longer pressure people into getting vaxxed by saying “do it to protect others”

…which means there’s no solid reason to push for kids to get vaxxed.

Looks like it’s legit. Being hinted at with multiple news outlets.

From wapo:

quote:

The concern here isn’t so much that vaccinated people might get covid-19. Nearly all serious cases of the illness are among the unvaccinated. When vaccinated people still get sick, it tends to be mild.

quote:

Experts told me problem is with the viral load the vaccinated could be carrying. There are still millions of unvaccinated Americans who could contract the virus from a vaccinated person and get more seriously ill.

So the vaccinated people are mostly seeing mild, if any symptoms. So they carry on with normal social life as if Covid is a thing of the past.

They may not even know if they are spreading the virus to unvaccinated people, who are much more likely to be hospitalized or die from an infection.

My take: frick restrictions. Everyone is aware of the risk by now. The vaccine is readily available. If you don’t have it by now, we shouldn’t be forced into restrictions for you.
