Either they’re badly educated, or they don’t care as long as it buys them votes, or they see higher unemployment as desirable.
I assume Bernie is mix of two and three.

Kills 1.4 jobs is music to democrats ears. Put them in welfare chains so they can never not vote democrat again!

Those jobs lost are low end jobs that are filled by lower class citizens. Basically, spiking the min wage only does the opposite of what they want it to do.
Looks like no one here actually read the report:
quote:
For families with workers earning wages at or near the federal minimum, real income would increase. That effect would be concentrated in the lowest quintile, or fifth, of the distribution of family income.
For families that lost employment because of the increase in the minimum wage, real income would fall. That effect would also be concentrated in the lowest quintile of the income distribution, but it would be smaller than the increase in real income just described.
The tweet in the OP leaves out some context too. The increase to the deficit would be by 2031, not immediately, and the 1.4 million jobs lost would be by 2025, also not immediately. And the report says that of those 1.4 million jobs, half of the people working them will have left the workforce by 2025 anyway.

That seems really low.

The report says it would increase income for affected people by a net positive of about $330 billion.

The $58B deficit is a drop the bucket.
The 1.4 Million jobs lost would be catastrophic.

Unfortunately, some sacrifices will have to be made.

they say that people need a "living wage" but im a small business owner and when i pay my employees what theyre worth. i gvie them money for housing, food, and fun, and the world repays me y trying to put me out of business for "healthc ode violations" and "endangering chikldren" but we all know that theyre just attacking hardworking small businessowners because we are real conservative americans. the $15 minimum wage is just to put us out of busienss so that the liberalk corporate elite can conmtinue to take over. if my employees want $15 to work while i read tigerdroppings all day thent hey can start their own busienss like i did

I think that job number is WAY WAY WAY LOW.
Likely closer to 10.4 million jobs lost, and no telling how more businesses would close because of it.

It’s actually a net positive for poor people. You’d know that if you read the report.

The funny thing about reality is that projections and plans are only accurate and work up until the plan actually starts.
Reality has a weird way of saying frick your projections. frick your plan. Especially when those pesky, selfish, humans are involved.
You see, friend. We are selfish. We care about ourselves. This “higher minded” bullshite is just that. bullshite.
When push comes to shove, at the end of the day, we humans will do whatever we can to better our own situation or pass our problems on to other people.
You know why sociopaths work their way into the top positions of government and industry? Because they know what they are, and they know what YOU are. Humans will never be equal, and the sociopaths that find their way into power do everything they can to ensure that.
Even your savior joe. Even Obama. Sociopaths that got to where they were because they don’t give a rats arse about you.
Sheep will never understand the thought process of wolves. Idk why I waste my time trying to explain it to you.

Why would they be doing that? The CBO is a leftist organization. They absolutely put the best possible face on this.
