How can this possibly be true? Is anyone competent left anywhere anymore? 3 months in and we can't muster 100 tests for the fricking Senate?
quote:

The Capitol’s attending physician said Thursday that coronavirus tests will be available for staffers and senators who are ill, but not enough to proactively test all 100 senators as the chamber comes back in session, according to two people familiar with the matter.

In a conference call with top GOP officials, Dr. Brian Monahan said there is not sufficient capacity to quickly test senators for coronavirus — a contrast with the White House, where any people meeting with President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are tested for the disease. Monahan said test results in the Senate will take two or more days, while the White House has rapid testing.

The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on Monday after more than a month away, bringing as many as 100 senators from across the country. Roughly half the senators are 65 or older and at increased risk for the coronavirus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Delay tactic. That doctor received a substantial donation to his retirement account.

I'd still rather start with a dementia test and knock out the majority of them first

Anybody in Baton Rouge can go to several different urgent care clinics between 9am and 9pm and get a test that gives results within 2 hours. I don't understand how the Senate doesn't have 100 tests.

He's lying. You can go to any hospital and a couple of dozen clinics in a little town like Birmingham. Hell, they set up another free one just yesterday to serve a single smallish housing project.

They should all retire at the end of their current term.

Wasn't there a post about a week ago from a testing center in Florida that took a picture of an empty parking lot and stated they had the capacity to test like 150 ppl a day? How is it possible that a roadside, makeshift operation can do it, but the Senate can not?

They should either go back to work or lose their jobs.

If they die, they die.

Testing won't prevent you from catching the virus.

We need to protect people, not senators. They are demons and deserve no protection. Sucks for the three good senators.

If my dad, who is afraid of the internet and anything digital can find a way to get tested, the Senate is capable.
