There’s posters here who will still say it was an accident of mistaken identity. Particularly rolltide1985 and that one poster with like 5 numbers as his username starting with “6”. What they are saying when they argue that, are these US sailors are liars, and their suffering doesn’t matter.

What this means is that Christians are not Required to support any action or act that the secular modern state called Israel chooses to commit. It means that US citizens who are Christians are free to be patriotic Americans who support America first policies.

The supposed Israeli motive that has been laid out is very unpersuasive to me.
The Israelis cared deeply about American and International / UN sentiment in response to any actions they undertook. It actually served to further paralyze their initially botched response in the Yom Kippur war 6 years later (i.e., they didn't want to be misinterpreted as the aggressor so they intentionally delayed mobilizing when they realized they were about to be attacked by the Egyptians and Syrians). They also relied upon the U.S. and the West for aid, obviously.
And the Egyptian aerial and naval capacities were such a joke at that point, there's no way they would have thought the attacker would have been mistaken by someone else.
