The state of California has sued five of the largest oil and gas companies in the world, alleging that they engaged in a “decades-long campaign of deception” about climate change and the risks posed by fossil fuels that has forced the state to spend tens of billions of dollars to address environmental-related damages.

quote:

“Oil and gas companies have privately known the truth for decades — that the burning of fossil fuels leads to climate change,” Bonta said in a statement, “but have fed us lies and mistruths to further their record breaking profits at the expense of our environment. Enough is enough.”

“With our lawsuit, California becomes the largest geographic area and the largest economy to take these giant oil companies to court,” he added. “From extreme heat to drought and water shortages, the climate crisis they have caused is undeniable.”

The O&G companies’ lawyers ought to file a motion to dismiss on the basis of big, fat lies.

Lol at water shortages for LA…that could have been predicted by anyone. No reason SF has water shortages. Death Valley has extreme heat…you don’t say?

Once you pay off your attorneys and court costs, which for something like this may be HUGE and outside counsel is likely involved.

It would make my day if all of the oil companies would pull completely out of California. No refineries, no gas stations, NOTHING.

Great. Let’s have discovery and expert testimony from both sides, assuming the oil and gas companies don’t lay down.

Let’s televise it prime time.

Me trying to figure out how that is relevant to the merits of the case:

The left is always saying someone or something is doing exactly what they have done or doing. Liars abound on the left.

Does this mean that California will have to prove in court that burning oil causes climate change?

First step for the judge... State must prove Climate Change exists beyond a theory, then maybe we continue.
