Saw a group of service members marching at a parade this past weekend. Gasp!!!! No one was bitching about it and everyone involved seemed to appreciate the moment.

Spot on! Time and money for personnel and equipment to aggregate in D.C., rehearse, parade, and retrograde back to home station. Military members would rather have the time off, and Commanders would rather have those funds for equipment readiness and family readiness programs.

Idc who throws a military parade. I'd go watch it bc I think it's interesting. Tanks, spgs, apcs, all that stuff is cool to me and id love to see hundreds of them rolling by in formation.
I'd go to the norks military parade if I could. I'd love to see all that stuff up close.
Is it a waste of money? Absolutely. But so are a frick ton of other things we do. And I don't care either way if it happens or not as I'll get my military fix going to museums.

Depends. If it's 1st ID from Fort Riley, Kansas... sure the parade will suck, but the TDY to go to Washington DC and GTFO of Kansas for a few days... many will jump on that opportunity. Plus I'm sure some units will award like an AAM for doing it. I've seen AAMs awarded for stupider reasons before.
