So, you concede the drugs are bound for the US. No further questions for the witness.

It's a close call...and I was going to say that even the people who drafted the war clause didn't seem to have a problem sending the Marines to Tripoli without a declaration of war.

Maybe I am too cynical. I just think blasting boats so many miles away from our shores shows that this is more to rattle the sword at Venezuela than it is to battle drugs.

Hold on. DoW was invoked just no judges involved like today’s world.

If the drugs were bound for the US, why not follow them and execute/arrest the people closer in the chain to the US?

Good question but…see current judges.

After they've been divvied up to who knows how many final (or even more intermediate) delivery people? Easier to whack them closer to the source. We know at this time and place those drugs are there.

Whew
You're right. Doing nothing is much better.

I won't because it will almost certainly be retarded and unjust rather than smart and just.
Easy

Fair point.
I notice Hegseth didn't even claim these particular drugs were destined for the US. Does that matter? Is it okay to bomb any drug running boat?

I cannot like this enough. And you’ve never dealt with weaning a family member off fentanyl carried across JoeTato’s wide open border, you can STFU, and GFY

Remember when Repubes voiced concerns over Obama’s increasing reliance on drone strikes to fight terrorism?

Genuine question: has it ever been the policy of the US to blow up vessels suspected of drug running in international waters without even attempting interdiction?
The OP is about blowing up a vessel in the "eastern Pacific" without reference to the drugs being bound for the U.S. I am just speculating that this new policy is centered around dominating northern South America rather than about stopping drugs.

This is the kind of emotional crap that will get our guns taken away. This is the same exact argument progressives use to go after firearms.

Progressives use the death of drug smugglers to go after legal guns?

Exactly. I wonder if that poster is named David Hogg?
