Sure, for some portion. But millions of non-addicted Americans demand recreational drugs.

They don't plan on having it laced with Fentanyl.
They're stupid if they don't test everything they buy illegally.

Y'all are just trolls, must be. Otherwise, just stay off the board, and go protest your king.

This is true.

But that’s why I voted for Trump.

We really didn’t even try against fentanyl. We were still worried about weed.

I’m not saying smoking weed all the time is a good thing. But it’s not like being an alcoholic or addicted to opioids.

And I used to be one of those decriminalize it all retards. But that was as a teenager that smoked weed a few times. Didn’t know shite about other drugs.

The only reason I support legalization as an option is because prohibition doesnt work and has never worked, without heavily penalizing users.

I'm just pointing out this has little to do with drugs. Why return one of the terrible narco terrorist survivors to Colombia of all places, where nothing will be done to him?

Here's what President Trump told us about the president of Colombia:

"President Gustavo Petro, of Colombia, is an illegal drug leader strongly encouraging the massive production of drugs, in big and small fields, all over Colombia. It has become the biggest business in Colombia, by far, and Petro does nothing to stop it, despite large scale payments and subsidies from the USA that are nothing more than a long term rip off of America. AS OF TODAY, THESE PAYMENTS, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF PAYMENT, OR SUBSIDIES, WILL NO LONGER BE MADE TO COLOMBIA."

Sarcasm aside, if killing narcoterrorists destabilizes Venezuela, doesn't that tell you what they were all about?

Weak conservatives love to do nothing. Here we have a country so involved with running drugs to our country that killing a few narcoterrorists, by your own words, leads to the collapse of their entire government, and you want us to just sit here and do nothing while the problem festers.

You do nothing conservatives couldn't beat the democrats, and now Trump has the democrats at their lowest point in history. I'm going to side with the guy who produces results on this one.

I'm not advocating doing nothing. It's just insulting to pretend this is about stopping drugs from reaching the US.

Blowing up a few boats allegedly carrying drugs isn't a big deal to Maduro. Bringing the imminent and lethal presence of the awesome American military to the shores of Venezuela under the pretext of stopping drugs is designed to destabilize.

We’re back to the early 2000s, baby. New year, same script.
quote:

The U.S. military on Wednesday launched its ninth strike against an alleged drug-carrying vessel, killing three people in the eastern Pacific Ocean, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said, expanding the Trump administration’s campaign against drug trafficking in South America.

It followed another strike Tuesday night, also in the eastern Pacific, that killed two people, Hegseth posted on social media hours earlier. The attacks were departures from the seven previous U.S. strikes that had targeted vessels in the Caribbean Sea. They bring the death toll to at least 37 from attacks that began last month.

The strikes represent an expansion of the military’s targeting area as well as a shift to the waters off South America where much of the cocaine from the world’s largest producers is smuggled. Hegseth’s social media posts also drew a direct comparison between the war on terrorism that the U.S. declared after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and the Trump administration’s crackdown.

“Just as Al Qaeda waged war on our homeland, these cartels are waging war on our border and our people,” Hegseth said, adding “there will be no refuge or forgiveness — only justice.”

Tigah...do you think drug running is just a crime (as I do) or it's an act of war?
It's an interesting question.
A simple enough, albeit glib, answer would be citing the War on Drugs.
Normally though, as per your point, war entails countering a national nemesis.

Then came 9/11. Was 9/11 an act of war? If so, an act by whom, and by what definition? About 3000 Americans died d/t the 9/11 attacks. Another 7000 died in the prolonged Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Roughly 10,000 in total.

Fast forward to this drug issue. >100,000 Americans lose their lives EACH YEAR d/t drugs. That's ten times the number of total deaths incurred over 9/11 and its entire 20yr aftermath. In an annualized comparison, drugs cost 200x the number of deaths vs the war on terror per year or as Trump might put it, 20,000% more deaths.

So, in those terms, along with the fact the cartels involved are basically paramilitary groups, defining their attempted infiltration into the US as an act of war could certainly be justified.

Someone help me out here. I feel like this might be fake, but not 100% sure.

First of tall, the X account is "Secretary of War". We don't have a Secretary of War that I'm aware of. Is that account really run by Hegseth or by someone on his behalf?

Secondly, "eastern Pacific"? So these are not Venezuelan boats?

What is their country of origin?

I am astonished we aren't doing this in Mexico where it might actually mean something.

Are you positive we aren’t? We are the ones releasing the videos. We have solid diplomatic relations with Mexico, unlike Venezuela, so we are less likely to want to embarrass them. It doesn’t mean we aren’t bombing drug boats from there too, and just not putting it out.
