There are folks around my age in my town buying 800k homes like it is nothing, and have 85k SUVs/trucks every year.

Its ALL inherited/gifted money.

Those generations actually did something to deserve it. We are being asked to subsidize the generation that ran this country into the ground

I'm not going to give my kids a house or nice car, etc. Now I'm Gen X and not a Boomer but my wants are more important to me than their cats. As it should be.

If they want to buy nice stuff, they need to bust some arse. I know I had to.

And I am doing just fine spending my money on my own--I just spent over 15k on some woodworking equipment.

This is an interesting question. I studied bevioral fiance and work in tje financial advisory business.

Dave Ramsey accolytes are few and far between. Very few people are able to change their financial habits in middle age.

Expect lots and lots IOUs in the future. How will they pay? Confiscate your wealth (not theirs!)

Ive been saying that when Boomers and early Gen Xers start dying off in waves, their kids and grandkids are going to be in deep shite. The kids are heavily subsidized by their parents and grandparents. When that money starts disappearing, many will lose cars, get evicted, etc.

I'm a Gen-Xer whose parents never gave any money. That said, I have no problem with parental subsidies and don't give a crap what the recipients
spend it on.

I do have a problem with government subsidies because that comes partially out of my pocket.

Credit Card and ALL loan 'forgiveness' on the backs of US, the responsible, hard-working, taxPAYING middle class...

So, does anybody watch Bonanza or Yellowstone or whatever and look at the kids still in the family home or in a house on the property and think they're screw-up leeches?

They all contribute to the household. Nobidy susbodizes anyone. These adults being discussed in the article not only live at home, but their old parents are taking care of their financial needs as well

Stop comparing that to a strong nuclear family where everybody is contributing.

My parents solved this problem by having no money to give me.

They will blame the boomers. Same as they are doing now.

Anecdotal but I’ve noticed upper class millennial / Gen Z girls having a large amount of family support in their 20s/30s. I’m talking working professionals having their luxury apartments / down payments paid for by parents.

Or the jet-setting and constant opulent travel, and i know damn well none of them actually have a job other than to post about their trip to Greece or Paris on facebook.

The boomers that paid in? And more than millennials considering age?

Know who hasn’t paid into the system though? Oh yeah, illegals. But millennials have no issue footing that bill and voting for more of it.

I know quite a few young folks with this lifestyle and their income dont cover it, they're getting money from their folks.

We've created generations of incompetent people.

Nah, we’ve been able to vote for a while now and we outvote the boomers and are the largest generation currently.

What’s our #1 issue? Climate Change

What’s our #2 issue? Abortion

So no, we did this shite to ourselves.

Millennials have their priorities all wrong.

Having rich parents might be the best thing a person can be born with.

No. It's actually pretty hard to bring up responsible, hard working, decent kids in a truly wealthy family. It's one of the things I give Trump a lot of credit for. For all the money and fame and different wives, he/their mothers have raised pretty good kids.

You know a lot of unemployed people?

I can’t think of a single adult that I know socially who doesn’t work outside of a handful of SAHMs.

I’m not a boomer or millennial but I’d just like all the money I’ve paid in the past 37 years of working plus some minimal ROE.

Yeah, the greatest generation's president, FDR, instituted the program back in 1935.
