I note that the arts college had allegations of fraud but I have no idea if the government is suing the college

It appears they are certainly treating college and students different different than Trump universityOr

Also, for the record - That is a $19,200 handout per person. HUGE fricking stimulus.

This is outrageous. Hunter Biden is one of the world's most renowned painters and he didn't even have to go to art school

That’s insanity to run up that amount of debt for an art institute

He should cancel the loans for only those who could draw Tippy, Tiny or Pirate

How about all the union trade members who did not go to college who will now foot the bill for these cancelations of debt?

Will pull the D lever all day long.

Has anyone figured out how this actually works?

Is that 6.1B recouped in the form of tax revenue?

I genuinely want to know

That money has to come from somewhere at the federal level. And considering the federal level spends more money than it collects, the answer is painful but obvious.

That money gets added to our national deficit. Whatever explanation and nomenclature they deploy is trivial.

Great timing too. If anything, Trump gained another .5 point lead on Biden over this.

the us government owns the debt.

there are private loans that banks own, but all federal student debt is owned by uncle sam.

When you say "owned" does that mean that the students borrowed from the govt? Or does it mean that the govt now owns the loans by virtue of debt forgiveness? I genuinely don't understand how this works.

And if the debt is truly forgiven, who takes the loss? The US govt? If it is the govt who is on the losing end of this transaction, will taxpayers have to reimburse the govt for the loss?
