Any bank where you don’t have an account is going to look sideways at a five figure check.
Even if they do accept it, they release funds at staggered times to minimize the chances of being hit with a reversal or fraud and being stuck for the difference.
I’ve had multiple houses sold and other big money transactions and my bank, who I have been with for decades, still does the same shite.

Yet you can take a pictrure of a check and deposit on your cell phone, times have changed.

I’ve been with chase since they bought out Bank One or whatever it was called and have never had a single issue with them. Why all the frick chase posts?

My question is, why didn't she go to her own bank? Did she not have one?
That actually might be easy. Maybe the practice/hospital she works for can only EFT deposit to certain routing numbers and Chase was the closest available.

I have reached this point as well. We are finally seeing the impact of the lefts quota based merit system.

All of those laws and regulations that force our banking industry to spy on us for the IRS need to be repealed.

There's still a limit on that, which I believe is up to $2000.

How does somebody almost 30 who has MD behind their name not have a bank account?
Posted on 2/4/22 at 4:59 pm to L.A.
Solution is to NEVER open any personal bank accounts with the mega monster bank like Bank of America, Chase Manhattan, Citibank, Wells Fargo, HSBC, et al. She needs to bank with a credit union, regional or local bank.

My instincts tell me not to open an account with a large bonus check. She should have opened the account with a minimum amount first to establish herself as a client. Then, step 2 would be to deposit her big check. This could be done on the same visit.

What about all the White people that are not able to open an account with a large questionable check? I'm sure there are numerous White people that are forced to deposit the check into a new account and wait for the funds to clear ACH.

Clearly that is a racist policy. How can we expect people of color to get to a bank?

She was trying to deposit it? The bank wouldnt ask questions about that, if it didnt clear you just wouldnt get the money in your account.
Did she try to cash it? Or try to cash a big chunk of it?
That's exactly what I'm thinking. Any bank would take the check but they would put a hold on the funds until a few days after the drawing bank funds the check.
This story is missing the details that underlie the lady's misunderstanding.

What about all the White people ...
I don't know how white you are but whenever I walk into a bank they just give me the standard stack of currency. I thought everyone who is white got the same.
