Hell no. You just let them get another credit card.

They will fold at the last minute. I've seen this before.

That's why Bankruptcy was invented.
It's well over $100 trillion. No one seriously believes it will ever be paid off.
All great nations eventually break apart. There are no exceptions.

If we were paying the bill, this discussion would be unnecessary.

We are currently paying them. When the Treasury runs of of money in June because it cannot continue to borrow anymore, we won't be paying anything at all. No interest payments, no SS, no medicare, nothing.
The only payment that is a default must pay obligation is the interest on the current debt, the other payments are technically discretionary.

It's becoming more apparent that McCarthy has become compromised through the extreme elements of Republicanism-- Andy Biggs, Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, et.al.
Ryan or Boehner would have never had a brouhaha over r^a^i^s^i^n^g the debt ceiling. Veterans and social security recipients could always have depended upon their payments being posted on time in their accounts.

It’s been apparent for years on this forum you were compromised from a fatherless household.

Tell me what specific debts aren’t serviced from McCarthy’s house passed budget.

All of the debt of the United States has already been approved by Congress. We are already obligated to pay this money--by the Congress.
Then why aren't these bill being paid??
Is the EXECUTIVE wasting the money on something else???
siincerely don't understand this - IF the money was allocated - what happened to it.
I am seriously under-educated on this. THIS congress has only been in control since Jan. THEY cannot be blamed for what the LASTY congress did - can they?? The same executive is still in control of spending the money allocated by the last congress?? are they not??
what happened to last year's allocation??
The last congress also approved a debt limit - this congress is proposing an increase in that limit - but is DEMANDING that the EXECUTIVE control they're SPENDING going forward.
NOW - is it the case that the last congress OBLIGATED the country to pay for stuff they KNEW we would not have the capacity to honor??
I am not at all understanding the working of finance at this level
I do know how household budgeting works - the hard way. After a few painful bouts with credit cards in the past, I finally learned to STOP SPENDING on stuff that I COULD NOT AFFORD. I was in my 20s at the time.
Really - I do not understand this
I do know the intent of Democrats - and many Rinos tho.

Our debt problem is not just spending and accumulated debt. It’s also not generating enough revenue (taxes) to address that accumulated debt or making sizable payments or spending cuts to address future debt obligations that will be incurred.
If I’m using a credit card and I’m just making minimum monthly payments and not doing anything to eat into the principal that I owe along with interest, I’ll forever be in debt. You can only address the debt problem by increasing revenues (taxes) to pay down that debt and cut spending on the credit card. This is precisely why credit card companies verify income when issuing credit limits (to ensure that you’ll have the resources to address the debt obligations/credit limit that they provide to you).
A realistic solution to long term debt problems would be to generate more tax revenue to make more payments on our past debt obligations and cut spending (by finding savings in every department in which federal dollars are spent, long term).
