Still, it's shocking and disappointing to think this sort of thing exists.
I'm volunteering for an inner city middle school robotics club next week.
I'll let you all know how it goes.

but are you gonna tell me whoever raised you never once asked to see a report card your entire time in High School. Never asked to see a test you did or a report you submitted? Never questioned why you didnt go to school on school days?
Obviously the parent (mom) was subpar.
Nobody is arguing that.
However, the school is most likely an unimaginable place filled with incompetence on all levels.

So when is the 1st class action lawsuit going to filed against any or all of these inner city school systems?
For what? They failed him like they are suppose to do! The school can not make you learn if you don't want to learn.
I have no doubt this schools he went to are crap. But I am shocked he was given failing grades repeatedly. That is the shocking part. In an age where students routinely graduate without the ability to read, him being failed is shocking.

White privilege
Racism
Systemic Racism
Math, Science, and History Books are Racist
Equity
Lack of Opportunity
Lack of Resources
The System is Rigged
Do any of the excuses make for a successful student?
Also, is it really a lack of resources/revenue by the city?
Baltimore City Public Schools operates with a total budget of nearly $1.9 billion to $1.99 billion for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Lets compare those funds allocated to one of the top cities for test scores in the US - Alexandria Virginia
The Alexandria City School Board adopted a combined funds budget of $392.3 million for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26)
Bottom line - Fix the culture and the excuses. Get parents involved in their kids education, and stop blaming all the boogymen.

Failure by the school, parent and kid.
He knew damn well his dumbass wasn't doing well enough In school to graduate. And momma should have known as well. How do you not know your kid is an idiot? Does she not keep up with anything he does in school?
And I feel like we heard a similar story from Baltimore a few years back.

Agreed, smart people would never support the Dem/marxist line of bullshlt.

Idiots. And not the student. The admins should be returned to college.

Notice the usual suspects from the left on this board have avoided this thread like the plague?

Watch this guy's videos on YouTube. All he does is interview actual college students and ask them basic questions most grade schoolers should know the answers to.
At first, it's funny... after a few minutes, it is difficult to watch. Our tax dollars are being squandered.

"Being sent back to 9th grade edges out a 0.13 [gpa]"
Probably just spent too much time on one subject.

I'm sorry but it's 100% the parents. You didn't know what your kid was doing for 4 years? Then you have the nerve to blame someone else?

Ever notice the people who love to jump on "systemic racism" and "privilege" to blame the differences in society and outcomes always fully avoid threads like these?
I do.
I do.

My wife taught English at Delgado Community College in New Orleans decades ago. None of her students could read beyond 3rd grade level. The administration told her that she could only give out A's and B's because they needed the Pell Grant money along with keeping the census up for state and fed funds. She quit after the admin changed the mostly F's and a few D's to A's and B's after the first semester.
She did make one friend for decades. She was another English instructor who called the students, "Future Broom Pushers of America"
