Attorneys battle it out in court and then go drink a beer afterwards.

Is our U S Congress so divided that many individuals truly dislike each other and would never speak unless absolutely necessary?

attorneys don't battle out anything. At most, it's just acting. They are all nerds, first of all. secondly, they all work for the same church, the state bar.

It's all an act. If you think these guys aren't getting the same lobbying treatment, drinking beers and eating high end steaks while listening about tanks or whatever special interest group is around that day, you're an idiot.

You're not completely wrong, but you are.

Vast majority of court cases are decided before it even goes to court

This got off the rails quickly. I’m still wondering if many, if not most members of Congress are so ticked off at the other side of the isle that they stay clear of each other when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Who wants to drink beer with lawyers other than other lawyers?

I don't know what attorneys you've been around, but the several times I've been asked by my Firm to listen in on discussions with opposing counsel (prior to even talking about going to court) it has been...interesting.

Attorneys are a bunch of catty mofos.

This is the most accurate statement in this whole thread. And hilariously it’s a rhetorical question.

The best depiction of what you speak. Hope you're old enough to appreciate it:

This is just a traditional guy thing, not an attorney thing.

Alpha boys and mature adult males fight and then hang out. As an attorney, I can drink a beer with a handful of likeminded opposing counsel. I'm not grabbing beers with awkward and whiny opposing counsel, however, and there are a lot of those.

To the extent there are still grown men Democrats, I'm guessing Republicans could grab a beer with such people. But most politicians on both sides are overgrown dorks with latent insecurities masked by feigned egomania.

I suspect that Austan Goolsbee and Tucker Carlson could have a beer together

I'm guessing Sean Hannity and Adam Schiff could not

Dude, The old politicians will hang out together per se as long as it is private. It's an exclusive club.

Similarly, RBG and Scalia had dinner together often and were close friends despite their opposing views on many cases.

Thank you. I wish I had never used the attorney example. I was mainly asking if you guys think a lot of the disgust shown by either side of the aside is mainly for the camera or do these guys generally not like each other.

The cameras are always rolling. Everybody has one. They have to keep up the act because someone will see them out with the other side and have a fit. This constant news cycle and everybody being a report with their cell phone has made it impossible for the 2 sides to be able to talk to each other and find common ground anymore. It's helped us become more polarized.

Tip O'Neill and Reagan would go have a beer, would they not?
