I’m an atheist and I agree with Token’s post. I can’t speak for all, obviously. It’s not really a homogeneous group. The lack of belief doesn’t exactly tie people together.

Atheism isn't about belief.

Really. Atheists don't have any beliefs? Interesting.

What other life were you referencing?

If there is no God then why should the atheist care that anyone is denied their life? It doesn't impact them negatively in anyway and might actually be beneficial to them to have the child, of any age and stage, be killed.

You are confusing belief in a higher power with ethical behavior. The two are not tied together. You can be extremely ethical without belief in God.

Thank you, there are so many misconceptions about atheist on this board. The board has enough of an atheist population to get solid feedback. The “brain trust” isn’t very up to date on atheism.

I think you’d be surprised by how many people in these religious groups don’t agree with this.

Which part? That there is an afterlife, or that children incapable of making such decisions go to Heaven?

Who is forcing a child on a woman? Why is it that abortion proponents always pretend adoption doesn't exist?

Killing babies is not a religious issue.

An Atheist should not be expected to have an opposition to abortion.

If anything, an atheist should not have a reasonable opposition to selective breeding or eugenics.

They should fully support the policies of breeding a superior human species.
Killing off the less intelligent and genetically deficient.

That would be the most reasoned thought for someone who believes in evolution with no afterlife.

Some "atheists" do. Some even structure a pseudo-religion around them. Those aren't atheists.

So the baby just magically appeared inside of her? Getting pregnant IS a choice.

No wonder abortion advocates have convinced themselves that an unborn child is not really a child.
