Assessment and Risk of US Collapse

Look, I know we crap on AI a lot on here and I agree that most of it is slop. However, out of my circle of acquaintances and friends that fall on the other side of the political spectrum, only 1 or 2 are capable of having any discussion that goes against their current beliefs and political biases.
We always here the term "Late Stage Capitalism" or "America is at a crossroads" from both sides, but what would that failure look like for America?
Well, I asked AI by feeding it a great deal of information related to current events without hallucinating or making up its own skewed data.
Based on the summary of results, looks like what it deems as a failure of the country is already in the process.
Do you see this changing at all?
As someone on the right side of the isle, to me at least, this is already happening in full swing.
------------------------------------------------------
Actual Risks:
1. Collapse of institutional legitimacy and political norms
2. Extreme polarization turning political opponents into existential enemies
3. Economic inequality combined with declining perceived mobility
4. Concentration of political/economic power and regulatory capture
5. Unsustainable fiscal commitments and debt
6. Information ecosystems that reward outrage and misinformation
7. Institutional paralysis caused by constitutional structures poorly adapted to modern political parties
They reinforce one another.
Economic frustration ? populism.
Populism ? distrust of institutions.
Distrust ? political extremism.
Extremism ? legislative paralysis.
Paralysis ? executive power.
Executive expansion ? greater fear when the opposing party controls the presidency.
Fear ? greater polarization.
It becomes a feedback loop.
Imagine 20–30 years where:
Congress becomes increasingly incapable of legislating.
Presidents consequently rely more heavily on executive authority.
Each succeeding president expands those powers because the previous president did.
Congress objects when the opposing party does it but tolerates it when its own party does it.
Courts increasingly decide questions that legislatures refuse to resolve.
Each side starts viewing unfavorable court decisions as illegitimate.
States begin openly resisting federal policies.
Federal deficits constrain policy choices.
Economic resentment intensifies.
Politics becomes increasingly personality-driven.
And Americans become willing to tolerate increasingly aggressive uses of government power because their preferred leader promises to use it against the people they fear.

I've for a while now raged against ruling by executive orders,, as dear leader is so fond of
Republicans should run on restoring the legislative powers to the legislature.
True conservatism

Downvoted for AI
Upvoted because you recognized we are screwed
Blame the leaders, not the AI

I agree that without a functioning legislative branch things are out of control. There are very few incumbents who should keep their jobs. There must also be a movement to elect strong legislators.

What does collapse mean to you?

Congress has ceded a great deal of power to administrative bureaucrats over the past 6 decades.
I would love to rip out a ton of that and have Fedgov get back to its most fundamental job and the reason it was formed, the common defense.

This is the actual threat:
5. Unsustainable fiscal commitments and debt
These are the factors that make solving that problem near impossible:
1. Collapse of institutional legitimacy and political norms
2. Extreme polarization turning political opponents into existential enemies
3. Economic inequality combined with declining perceived mobility
4. Concentration of political/economic power and regulatory capture
6. Information ecosystems that reward outrage and misinformation

Unless they figure it out in the next few months, AI hacking swarms are going to wreak havoc on financial institutions, and it's going to disrupt the economy and everyday life in ways that I don't like spending time dwelling on.

I Humbly await my new AI Overlord and Alien Masters.
Seriously, until we get major election reforms we are screwed!
If it is not already too late....

You think that is a new thing?
You fricking dumbass, how is anything useful going to get through Congress?

The US can and will collapse just like every other civilization in history. It is inevitable. Our debt is unsustainable and so is our monetary policy. Once the interest on the debt becomes unaffordable, we will collapse economically. The dollar would have to be replaced and every American who has the dollar as their source of income will be wiped out including everyone relying on a pension or investment accounts. I hope I am long gone when it happens because it will be ugly and painful but it was worth it to fund single mothers with 12 kids and Somalians to get rich!!

Consolidating power in the executive branch, Obama really accelerated the trend. Not in raw numbers as much as in effect.
We can go back to giving Congress the authority it rightly deserves under the Constitution, and then you wouldn't have the gridlock and deadlock. They'd be forced to do something or get unelected.
Why you such an angry little man you always come out with such vitriol why not just have a conversation are you unable to have a conversation without it being an attack ?
are you so afraid of being exposed as dumb
Just converse. Simply have a conversation .
Do you know how the Constitution designed the U.S. government to work? Do you think it's a radical position to say we should go back to the way it's supposed to be

What good would replacing the dollar do? I think you are mostly right in your post, but this seems plainly wrong to me. The dollar will be debased, not replaced.

Y2k was supposed to end the world and here we are 26 years later and I'm still waiting for the world to end from that event

Dude, you are openly supporting freako...no one cares what you think.
Posted on 10/26/26 at 3:07 pm to Pedropatterstine
See that's the thing I've repeatedly pointed out i'm not supporting the Democrat I was opposed to paxton winning the primary because I knew he would lose
the fact that I have stated that multiple times and no one has found one post where I supported Talrico.
This gaslighting from y'all is s just it's weak; it is so incredibly weak to gaslight on a message board. You don't even have the courage to have a discussion
Luckily y'all are too stupid to be embarrassed
but you should be

Apparently you've missed the extreme partisianism and complete refusal of Democrats, and even some Republicans, to work with this President to further his agenda that the overwhelming majority of the American voting public voted for. So, when that happens, we're left with executive orders...
