So, what point is that? Are we in dire straits now? I tend to think so.
I don’t really have a solid answer just my opinion. I’ve said before (and usually get called crazy for it) that if people want to do drugs, we should let them. Give them all they want, as long as they’re not a drain on society. That means no Narcan, no Medicaid, none of that. Let the problem sort itself out. Survival of the fittest.
A lot of addicts only keep going because they know the system will save them over and over again until they eventually die from the abuse or an overdose. They wreck their bodies, and in the end, taxpayers end up footing the bill through Medicaid.
I saw one guy in a sober facility in Lake Charles who wanted to visit family in Baton Rouge for the weekend. He called Medicaid and somehow got an ambulance ride there and back. That had to cost thousands of taxpayer dollars. The next week, he got kicked out of the facility for failing a drug test. It turns out he went home just to get high again.
Also, you should consider this:
Proverbs 14:34 — “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.”
A society that tolerates these issues, such as drugs, will decay.
Romans 13:1–4 — Governments exist “to reward good and punish evil.”
The government must protect the majority of society and discourage evil, including addicts

I remember who was kind to me, and I still hold those people dear. To those who "preached" at me they did little but cause me to tune them out, I already knew I was in a bad place.
Yea.
When I hire from the facility, I am not there to judge them. I ask them about their addiction and genuinely try to help. The sad part is that 90% or more of them ultimately fall off the wagon no matter what you do so I understand those who do preach to people as well.
No matter which way you go, kindness or preaching at, most addicts will eventually take advantage of you. Its the nature of it

And have a more expensive phone than I do.
I carry a $500 2 year old phone, usually the cheaper Google Pixel. They all have $1500 iPhones or Samsungs

100% agree but why do most Christians not do any of this individually?
Having said that, there is an obligation required by able-bodied people to feed themselves. I know this, the government is not an honest arbiter to determine who has true need and who are lazy parasites. Something to do with votes...

As a Christian ( I doubt that you are) the guilt plays a role but maybe your eyes and brain could process that saying about feed a man a fish and he eats for a day but teaching him how to fish he could eat every day.

Jesus says you should feed cloth and house the needy not the government. How many ppl are you supporting?

Beware the moral preening Progressive who arrives with a demand that you demonstrate your Christian empathy and compassion and who then hands you an invoice.

There are a shite ton of people in America who are not professing Christians.
So, do they have a responsibility to feed themselves, or, is that your responsibility?

Do you abandon them?
Do they abandon their responsibilities to themselves and others?
I'm not hard hearted. I ask your questions.

I notice you made sure your AI summary avoided explaining WHAT exactly the “cuts” were that DEMS opposed.
1) work requirements fir able-bodied adults.
This is non negotiable and anyone in opposition should be stripped of any public office they hold.
2) lowered fed expense by requiring states to pick up a bigger portion.
Again, republicans are ready to meet this challenge in red states. Its the irresponsible spenders in Blue States who are opposed.
Republicans are trying to support a community, dems want to give freebies to rioters and skim the state money to their friends.
I feel bad for anyone hungry on Nov 1st because Democrats are filthy scumbags.

You won me over with your cogent argument. As a Christian, I will now switch my allegiance to the democrats. All I have to do now is ignore: infanticide, genital mutilation of children, murder & mayhem on our streets, the political assassination of Christians, gov't theft by force, opening the borders to drug/human traffickers, infringements to individual liberties, and the democrat nominee in 2024 publicly telling Christians (like you and I) that we are at the wrong rally. Let me know how you ignore all of these so I can do likewise. Because...you ARE a Christian, after all...
Oh, and...how did Jesus feed the hungry? Did he do it the way a leftist would? Did he break into the storehouse of a successful fisherman and steal the product of another man's labor to redistribute it to the masses in exchange for their votes? No. He generated the resources himself. He behaved like an entrepreneur. He behaved like a capitalist. Something to consider, since you are a Christian and model your life after Jesus.

Food stamp cards aren’t Christian. They encourage people to become dependent on the government instead of learning how to feed themselves.

Great insight. Now take your savings, purchase food and start delivering it.
1 John 3:17
If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?

i donate to charities and give to the poor, i literally bought a homeless man lunch outside of albertons yesterday
I do this too, and I also volunteer at my local food bank.
The difference is, these are personal choices for me. I don’t want others to be forced into it by the government. That’s not charity, that’s coercion.
