The city is broke, They could win judgements worth millions and they will never collect from the city. if you won a judgement against the city today for $500, you would be lucky to collect in 15-20 years.
If the city doesn't appropriate funds to pay the judgement, is there a mechanism to force them to?

When Latoya talked about Mardi Gras beads jamming up the tracks of the retractable metal bollards in her press conference on 1/1/25, she was referring to the bollards that were put in place in Nola in 2017 after the Bastille Day terrorist attack in France in 2016. Then in 2019 Nola failed a risk assessment of the bollards by an outside security risk mgmt firm.
See where this is going?
I specifically stated the side walk. The bollards on tracks are in the street. They move to open the street during the day and close the street at night.

Which caused security gaps to simply go past a cop car and floor it on the sidewalk. That's a slam dunk for showing negligence coupled with the failed risk assessment test in 2019.

I imagine the NOLA council will just name Sharon Broome as interim and then voters will reelect Morial.

Idk bit there was a post on the long thread saying fire fighters still haven’t been paid after YEARS. Not sure what they’re being paid for or supposed to be paid for but it hasn’t happened.

For real? She’s not a NO citizen — could she be appointed??

the RFP stated that they were being purchased to set up around the dome for the Superbowl, or to be used at specific locations during Mardi Gras
I would be surprised to see an RFP to purchase hostile vehicle mitigation devices be that specific.
They are mobile so there would be no need to list specific locations in the RFP.

New Orleans has a foolproof method of handling lawsuits against them. They don't pay judgments or settlements. You can get a piece of paper saying that you have a judgment against the city, and you will have to get it renewed before it expires in 10 years because it will remain unpaid.
So it might be hard to find an attorney to take the case youre saying.

What judgement is this regarding? Just curious.

Some lawyers will take the case just to get the free publicity.

If she’s ousted, it best be a first class ticket

A lot of RFPs that I've seen have a background section that states the reason for the purchase. Looking at the city's bid tabulation web page, there are RFPs that include Superbowl or Mardi Gras in the title, like "Bid No. 3941 Superbowl Sidewalk Prep - Concrete: Zone 2 - Central Business District"

That is not a defense of Teedy She could not be more useless and obese. But having her out of that position creates a major visual appearance
Truer words have never been spoken…unfortunately you say that like that’s a bad thing at this juncture.
By no means is personal litigation my specialty, but if I’m in a court of law or litigation office I’m definitely opening up with that doozie as exhibit A of gross negligence and malfeasance of a public official’s responsibility to their constituents, as well as the general public at large.

I think the lawsuit(s) are dumb and more advantageous for the attorneys than anyone.
I just wonder if the folks bringing the lawsuits on behalf of injured or deceased are aware of the discovery process and how embarrassing it could get for them. For instance, if they can prove that any of these people dud drugs or were intoxicated then it’s going to hurt the case.

I don’t think any juror is losing sleep over a victim having a few drinks on bourbon if the other side is:
non functioning permanent bollards that city agencies misused (and often refused to use because no agency would commit man power to open/close them).
These remaining in place up until removing ALL the bollards at once for replacement and announcing online they’d be removed instead of keeping partial coverage by going block by block
Not using the portable bollards they owned, and then demonstrably not knowing how to use them once deployed. By the way, those are already back in storage - anyone want to go out on bourbon tonight and see if you could drive down the sidewalk? The worry is that yes you could.
All this after multiple advisories and a failed risk assessment
And that’s before the city faces discovery. Let’s dive into who did or did not attend important meetings. Let’s see what dollars weren’t spent on security at all.

Curious.
How many people who think the city is “at fault” also think…
1) the FQ should not ban vehicles
2) the FQ should not be a gun free zone
The city has fried to do a lot to make the FQ safer but are constantly blocked because of muh freedom and muh property rights
So,’… do we want a locked down FQ or not?

So basically the exact state that things exist in currently.
The main thing that the city of New Orleans has lacked is competent leadership since she was elected. It’s a joke. The Chief of Police, a Teedy appointment, is a joke. It is blatant corruption flaunted openly and consistently since the beginning. How could it possibly get any worse?

No, she isn’t. She’s been borderline great since she’s been here, and the only thing Latoya has gotten correct. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Get in the long line of judgment holders if you think City of NOLA will ever pay
Funny the city can’t pay but finds the money for Teedy to take her entourage on multiple first class trips around the world a few times a month.
