re: Anyone still think an AR isn’t needed in their home?

The Founders realized the import of "a well armed militia"; responsible citizens should own and know how to employ substantial arms. Civil LE could only tamp down rampart gangs of marauding heathen with the help of said 'militia'.
Think of the West Bank 'militia', drawing a line on that Bridge over the MR, back in Katrina. That'll be the future model. Of course, where there is no 'bridge' to concentrate invading forces, the dynamic will change. Night Vision will be very important in such a scenario; a force armed with Night Vision could clean out a community and force aggressive invaders to retreat, in the space of a night, with little to no opposition or loss. Hardball...but effective. Territories will be established, and defended. What else is new, when Rule of Law goes south.

Just curious, why is a suppressor necessary for a home defense weapon?
Helps to be able to hear the asshat coming in the window behind you after you blast a hole through his buddy that came though the font door.

Never attraction of an AR, they look like toys. How many times do you get a shot at shooting someone attacking you outside of a 50 yard perimeter?
The AR shoots five deadly projectiles in five trigger pulls. A tactical 12 gauge shoots sixty and doesn’t require the accuracy. And there’s nothing in close quarters that stops an intruder without firing like the sound of racking a shell in a shotgun.

We don’t keep guns at our house. I still don’t feel like we need one.

I bought a riot gun last month after a round with the FIBS concerning my background check denial. I am making another trip to the gun shop this week to see if he has an AR. Lets see if they try to deny me again on that purchase. Osama holdovers doing work on law abiding folks who are getting prepared. I have had a lot of boating accidents with my guns, though

ya know how fast i can reload my M4 types and AK's than you can with your shotgun? ya know how many more rounds i can get off? you know how much more distance i have? you realize my M4 types are used for close quarters combat?

Not if they are trespassing on your property, armed and headed for your house.

Do thugs tell anybody which houses they will be looting?

Talked with a baw at the bar earlier who could get me a “ghost” AR, meaning no serial number, that he builds himself legally for $1200
That’s high. You can get an 80% lower for less than 50.00 the rest is regular stuff

Clip fed shotgun puts out more rounds faster than an AR. It just doesn’t look as cool.

a mob coming down street and that clown would keep watching netflix
instead of having guns at windows or forming a line, with neighbors and on rooftops. we would block of our street. my neighbors have already discussed this.

Yeah, and if the other guy can stay just out of your range, he can poison you to death with .22 LR rounds. You'll get sick and die before you ever hit him.
There is no absolute perfect weapon. You need an assortment of different ones. Variety is the spice of life.
Hell If I wanted the perfect home defense weapon, it wouldn't even be a firearm. It would be a spray gun that sprays liquid nitrogen. You could just freeze intruders to death instantly.

As of 2 years ago, I had only a single 9mm.
Now I have an S&W M&P15 Sport, LWRC PDW 5.56 with suppressor, Mossberg tactical shotgun a Glock 9mm and Taurus 9mm.
My wife thought I was crazy until Corona lockdown started, now I could buy an Arsenal and she wouldn’t give second thought.

No he can’t, not when I can Switch to a rifle that can drive tacks at 100 yards, and will do far more damage than a 22

It’s on my get list. Right now I’d be happy with a trusty lever action 30-30.
