It’s kinda silly to honestly believe you will have time to or remember to rack one. Empty chambers kill. And if think that racking sound is effective just think of the physiological effect on the perps buddies when 9 32 caliber pellets from 00 buck send the other guy to the floor.

So, you aren't touting a shotgun as the perfect weapon anymore?

For close quarters in smaller groups a semiautomatic combat shotgun with at least 10 shots of low recoil 00Buck is a better option for the average person.

For someone wanting to put in the training (real training courses not stationary targets at fixed distance practice) then an SBR AR is ideal. Versatility and fire power in a compact package. And remember the movies lied, you can shoot throw Sheetrock, you don’t have to wait til the get to the door.

I wouldn't use buckshot for those same reasons, but bird shot can do a lot of damage at close range without the collateral damage.

Most home defense consultants recommend a shotgun for home defense. I alternated 8-shot with 00 buck in my tactical shotgun.

lip fed shotgun puts out more rounds faster than an AR. It just doesn’t look as cool.

My Vepr 12 looks pretty badass with the 10 round mag and the muzzle brake.

I have not tried them, but these shorty shells looked interesting.

Low recoil and you can put twice as many in the magazine.

Yeah, a shotgun seems practical for home defense. Doesn’t cost much

I thought so too until I bought and outfitted one for home defense. 18.5" barrel, pistol grip, collapsible AR stock. It's just still too heavy and long for maneuvering in tight quarters. I would either go with something MP5 size, a machine pistol or just a high capacity handgun.

Out on the street? Definitely shotgun. #1 buck. Far superior ballistically to just about anything else.

We don’t keep guns at our house. I still don’t feel like we need one.

Post pics of your belongings so we can plan our shopping trip in advance. It’s not as if you could do anything to stop us from taking whatever we want.
