But we get nothing on Lenin, or Stalin, or Mao, or any of communist despots?

Seems like we get another new documentary rehashing the same stuff with Hitler and the Nazis every 6 months or so.

Seeing as we’ve somehow allowed them to paint Hitler as this right-winger, I have questions.

Coincidence?

Eta: if I had to guess, the only reason I’d say there’s so much more is that there’s a lot more footage on what the Nazis were doing. But that’s about it. However, you can dramatize things now. So the lack of footage shouldn’t be an issue.

That is because they do not understand what Nazi means. They should look at the second word in National Socialist German Workers' Party. I bet you most of the people that call people on the right Nazi do not understand that it is an ideology of the left, not right.

Back in the old days when the History Channel first started up and had not gone off the rails yet with reality tv and UFOs, people joked and called it the Hitler Channel because it seemed like 90% of its early programming was about World War II and Hitler. So it's nothing new, really.

And the communists and Stalin particularly was more ruthless , and killed more people than the Nazi’s . Stalin killed Jews , his own citizens and the working class citizens in the country .

Yes, you’re correct. But how many times can we till the same ground? I’d love a few docs about the names I mentioned in the OP. Or communism/socialism.

YouTube has many documentaries on all three. The Timeline YT channel is an excellent source for historical docs.

All fascinating totalitarian dictators, however much more dirt on Hitler is known since Western allies captured documents and film during the invasion of Nazi Germany. All the film you've ever seen of the Holocaust was either filmed by the Nazis and captured by the Allies or was filmed under Eisenhower's orders when the camps were liberated. Much of which was heavily examined and organized during the Nuremburg trails. If the Nazi's were never invaded, then its highly unlikely any of us would have ever seen pictures or film of the Holocaust. And thus fewer documentaries/books on the topic would exist.
China and Russia have not surrendered to an invading army in the time since Stalin's and Mao's reign of power. Those governments are not going to voluntarily give themselves a black eye by exposing dirt on their former leaders and government officials they still worship in some regard. Especially the Chinese, since the communist party is still in power. Even today we have limited information on how they treat the Uyghurs in Western China.

Hard to make a great deal of documentaries when only so many files and raw film is available. There could be a dozen documentaries on the Soviet prison camps in Siberia IF more information were publicly known about it. Sadly, whatever horrific film or documentation may have existed may not have survived the fall of the Soviet empire in '92.

There's an excellent movie that deals with Stalin's purge in the summer of 1936. Of course it's a Russian movie with a Russian cast and Russian producers. Our Hollywood would never dare produce anything like this!

The movie is Burnt by the Sun released in 1994. Y'all Russian speakers will appreciate it and all y'all others can deal with the subtitles. It's worth a watch.

One of the interesting things about commie dictators that goes beyond murderous brutality is 'the law of unintended consequences.' They all believed that they could make the best decisions for everyone. That's why Hayek called them Central Planners.
'What a great idea, with the best of intentions, what could possibly go wrong?'
Free markets make much better decisions.

The Evolution of Evil - Qaddafi, Mussolini, Papa Doc, Mao, Hitler, Stalin, Saddam, and Bin Laden each have their own episode.

"Apocalypse Stalin" is a 3-part series about his rise to power and how he furthered the violent methods initiated by Lenin and Trotsky. He later turned on Trotsky and purged everyone after Lenin's death due to his lack of trust in Stalin.

There are also multiple documentaries available about Saddam.

The difference is Hitler invaded other countries. Guarantee if he went ahead and killed the Jews but never started WWII, nobody would have cared, or at least cared enough to stop him.

It is pretty well established that as long as a government is willing to kill only people within its borders, nobody cares. Countries will go to war in support of political/financial interests but nobody cares about doing it for humanitarian reasons.

That is the reason we must never lose the 2nd amendment. If you need saving, you better be able to do it yourself because nobody else is coming to help.
