Trump needs to stop watching the opinion polls and just do what he has to do. It obvious now that you can’t negotiate with these people. I respect him for trying to take into account the feelings of the general public on this issue. Most Presidents do not care what the public thinks. There is a reason though we elect one person to sit in the big chair and make all the decisions. We have to do what it takes to win and solve this problem long term. Only he sees all the relevant information to make that call. Making a deal may be what’s best for the citizens of the United States in the very short term but over the long term it would be a terrible for the United States. Even people that support this war really wish we could fix this problem a better way but there just isn’t one. Let’s just do what we have to do and stop worrying about public opinion. This problem will have to be solved eventually with violence. Let’s just finish the job now while we are already halfway there.

The Lebanese government isn’t strong enough to combat Hezbollah. Do you think they won’t a militia to have more power than they do? They would’ve fixed this a long time ago if they could have.

“We the people”…” want us to settle this conflict on any terms that will be acceptable to the IRGC ”(quote Champ).

We the people think about 9-11 and 10-07, and take Jihadist Islam at their word. Nobody in their right mind wants these people to get nukes. Or even drones packed with Anthrax. They are insane fanatics.

There are times when the pain of war is preferable to the greater pain of not waging war. This is common sense when an enemy and their Religion tells you what they intend to do as mandated by said Religion.

I think Trump is strategizing for the Midterms, but there is no way that he lets a wounded viper with a vengeful rage crawl around in his yard. Where the children play.

Those Jihadists will never surrender to “The Great Satan” and everyone knows it. I wouldn’t if I were them; I’d be plotting serious and indefensible payback. Pride nws they believe they’d go to eternal hell if they did otherwise.

I read you post and it seems clear to me that POTUS Trump does not have an option to impose further mass destruction on Iran, nor is ground invasion an option.

So, I think maybe POTUS Trump is playing the hand he has been dealt, and, for all we know, he may by playing this hand as well as it might be played.

It was always going to take full regime change in Iran to solve the problems Iran both has caused in the past and will cause in the future. The problem can’t be fixed any other way. Yes we can manage the problem and bomb them every so often but sooner or later the threat will have to be removed. These people are not going to stop coming at us. They will continue to seek weapons of mass death. They will continue to fund, arm, and train terrorist proxies. They will continue to try and make mischief in the Strait of Hormuz to affect the global markets. It’s just time to end this once and for all so the people serving in the region now do not have to send their kids and grandkids back later.

Yes we could manage the Iran threat like mowing the grass and go back every so often and knock them back down when they make trouble. That strategy requires perfection though. That strategy requires the United States to know everything they have planned and weapons they are developing. No intel agency is that good. If the CIA misses a secret facility where Iran is developing nukes or a ballistic missile capable of hitting the United States and lets them develop them in numbers then the fight is over. We will be paying 10 to 12 dollar gas as a normal price or get our cities bombed to hell trying to stop Iran from manipulating oil prices. 10-12 dollars might be a good price. We just can’t risk that.

Quite a pile of shite Trump has stepped in. The only way this ends is with the complete destruction of Irans leadership and probably a regime change. If Trump didnt approach it that way from the beginning, it was a huge mistake.

Remember at the start when we just killed the leadership and then killed the replacements?

Probably should get back to that until we hit a tier that jumps on the chance to stay alive by giving in.

That would mean boots on the ground, a bunch of our guys dying, and a decade or more dealing with this...

Which is why starting the war never made any sense.
