Another Obamacare Rant

Son has a possible torn meniscus, per his orthopedic specialist, and needs an MRI to pinpoint exact diagnosis.
We have BC/BS Large Group Insurance which my deduction is $281.00 every two weeks this is 1/3'rd of the premium.
Thanks to Hussain the Deductible is $5,000
MRI at hospital associated with Dr's office $1,400.00 and will go towards deductible if surgery is needed.
MRI at stand alone imaging place $858.00 (if they use my insurance) and will go towards deductible if surgery is needed.
MRI at stand alone imaging place $550.00 if I pay cash (without running it through insurance) but will not go towards deductible if surgery is needed.

I simply cannot believe that our government put the word "affordable" on this and it's turned out to be a lie!

I have a torn meniscus now-VERY painful and limiting. My deductible is $8500. I paid the $550 last month instead of the higher amount. Yes, it sucks. Also, because of insurance/surgeon bickering- complications will likely take me 6-8 months from injury to surgery as I cannot find a local surgeon to take my insurance. If I was on Medicaid it would have been paid for by the taxpayers and done in 6-8 weeks. The whole system is shite.

hate to burst your bubble but obama care had no effect of large group insurance, it only effected the individual market. the company you work for set's those deductibles.

My son has a scheduled vacation to Hawaii on 8/18 and his knee looks like a cantaloupe, not sure what he's going to do, he can barely walk.

Same-I'm at the beach for a week soon and I limping like an invalid. Thankfully, I'll have nurse

Obamacare was one of the most disastrous pieces of legislation in the last 50 years. It did major damage to health care in this country.

Its almost like people truly want affordable healthcare instead of getting screwed by the huge insurance and big pharma companies and ultra rich leaders of those industries. Hmmmmm.

Whether one agrees with universal coverage/single payer system is a topic unto itself, but the problem with the ACA is it tried to straddle the fence. Maintaining private insurance while providing insurance to everyone was never going to reduce cost for everyone. Insurance was never going to assume millions more in individual liabilities without offsetting that cost and those millions of individuals didn't have a pot to pee in to begin with, so, the middle class insured get it jammed to them.
