100%!! It’s supposed to be a civic duty not a career. Good forbid they have to have to get health insurance and live like the people they represent.

Funny thing you mentioned worshipping politicians.

Is it possible for someone seeking political power to switch parties, bring certain beliefs from their former party, and blend them with ideas from their new party? In doing so, could they take what was once a small faction within that party and grow it into the dominant majority simply because people are drawn to that politician's personality, demeanor, and message?

Then, as time passes, could the party itself begin to change its platform and priorities, not necessarily because of deeply held principles, but because supporters have become so attached to the politician that they follow wherever that message leads?
