I got to compare costs between extending my employer’s health insurance, and switching to an ACA plan.

My employer’s plan, which I kept via COBRA, was $614/mo in 2025, and went up about $100/mo for 2026. It’s -excellent-. Covers everything: urologist and labs, dermatologist and labs, GI doc and colonoscopy, etc. Out of pocket costs were minimal.

The ACA plans I looked at are all more expensive than the COBRA - before subsidies. Of course, after subsidies they’d probably be cheaper based on income. None of them cover the doctors I listed above, so I’d pay a lot more out of pocket using any of the ACA plans.

The ACA plan premiums are more expensive, the plans cover less, they soak up taxpayer money, and cost more after using them.

Somebody is speaking out their arse and has no comprehension of the Cadillac Tax of ObamaCare and how it has driven our premiums through the roof to cover parasites….i mean the less fortunate.

What I pay a month for what crap insurance I’m provided it would be more beneficial to take that money and put it in a savings account and pay cash for anything medical. Obama screwed everything up with the you can keep your doctor promise.

I had a CT done and went to imaging center and told them I'm self pay. They had me sign a form acknowledging the the amount to pay upfront. I checked the box that said "Cash self pay: $250". Just below that was "Cost with insurance: $1250".

It's stupid. You ought to see the premium prices if you go out to buy a private plan on your own.
