Twitter

Why is this PT material? Because it’s so indicative of the “victimocracy” mindset that fuels political outrage these days.

I honestly don’t understand why some people are so eager to be offended and be seen as a victim.

I use it, sometimes it feels like a lazy response but to be offended? That's a big stretch.

Also I've unintentionally sent thumbs down when intending the opposite so I've just verbalized responses to avoid any more confusion.

I may be in the minority, but I have a big disdain for emojis. Doesn't affect my life, but they seem to have replaced common english as a response at times.

One word answer: STOICISM
It was a common trait among males in America decades ago. A man does not complain. He fixes things as best he can. Young men today have lost that characteristic. Women were never stoics. They love to claim victim status.

Constantly checking on people’s safety makes them hyper aware of their safety. Constantly checking to see if they’re offended makes them hyper aware of offenses.

A thumbs up emoji is often used as a passive aggressive gesture like “whatever you say, man, I don’t care.” It’s also often not used to mean that, but just a shorthand for “message received” or “i will do that” or “that is a good idea, do that”.

The problem with texting is that absent body language pr greater context, it is easy to completely misinterpret the tone of a conversation.

Because Trump does it instead of shaking hands

The only people who could be offended somewhat rightfully are Middle Easterners since in that culture it is the same as is in ours.

And I learned that from one of the former American Embassy hostages in Tehran (with whom I worked for seven years).

I bet 90% of the people offended by the thumbs up emoji weren't offended by it until they read that other people were offended by it

I'm under 45 and hate using or receiving emojis.
