I'm farther out in the woods. My yard has possums, armadillos, deer, hawks, raccoons, snakes and last year we had a coyote.
I’m in town, walking distance to Tiger Stadium and I have all of that minus the deer, but plus foxes.
Would like to be without the possums and armadillos - wreak havoc in my yard and landscaping.

Better than the government using tax payer money to subsidize changing hundreds of acres of farmland or pasture into a solar farm

Animals need to learn to code.

Buy an equal sized property and plant trees.

They are in a food desert you bigot.
But in all honesty they are just a general store. Towns used to have them.
Where I used to go deer hunting you could go into the little town and go to the general store. But I seriously doubt it still operates now, the couple that ran it were pretty old back then. This is the type of shite that replaces those.

Nope. You're right. I've seen it everywhere for decades now. Cheesey-looking, pre-fab steel strip-centers and chain stores go up, taking out all the pastoral atmosphere that once made the locales so sublime and inviting. Within a few years, the buildings are empty, mildewed and rusty, and look like a third-worldish eyesore. Sitting there, ugly as hell, as dozens more continue to be built the next blocks over, covering the entire landscape, and repeating the process.
I remember so many beautiful, idyllic settings from town to town, visuals that I used to cherish. The whole mix of americana, with scenic landscapes and attractive homesteads and general stores, of such pleasing and visceral visual impact. But I go to those very same places and locales these days, and frankly everything looks like a damn sewer. Doesn't look like America anymore. But some seedy foreign cesspit.
So don't be happy about it. Just because I'm also a strong believer in the free market, I'm not going to ideologically bow down to it, and proclaim everything done in its name leads to positive things.

Get out in the country. We have wild rabbits in the backyard, goats in the field, ducks and geese in the pond, and we still manage to squeeze a family dollar in down the road.

I don’t like government but I can’t square this.
We can't even build a road connected to the outside, because of government.
It goes both ways. Your two acres will probably be replaced by extreme envriros here in SE Ak. They have us by the balls

This is true too, there are examples of the government not letting you build stuff in certain places.

I don't give a shite about society, I only really care about very close friends and family.
I don't see how a dollar store not on your property hurts you.
In the list of things that are important in this world, that concern is so far down I'll never see it and passing laws because your offended is the realm of Progressives.

Reading old Mad magazines from the '60s I've learned that the symbol of roadside overdevelopment was... "Here we are stranded in the jungle, hundreds of miles from civilization... And a good ten feet from the nearest Howard Johnson's".
Then it became McDonald's.
Now, it's Dollar General.
DG is actually performing a service in urban areas, giving residents access to basic supplies after being deserted by other retailers.
The tragedy is in rural, small town America, where DG drives out of business local mom and pop groceries b/c a certain demo is satisfied to get all their (processed) food from DG shelves. A year or two ago there was a fascinating article about this phenomenon, and how some communities are fighting back.

What the hell are you bitching about? Do you live in a tree? I guess you think it is OK for you to destroy some animal habitat but everyone else must get your approval???

Don’t worry — our masters have this covered.
In the future, we will live in 12’ x 12’ domiciles and not have room for cheap Chinese made junk.
Drones will deliver processed foodstuff made from ground crickets directly to our doorsteps.
Oh brave new world.
