The question now is why did he present to the grand jury.
He knew this going in. If there was no new evidence, nothing different, same facts that led other prosecutors to not pursue, why?

Then why did Bragg bring the case to the Grand Jury?
There's an even simpler explanation (but please don't come any closer): Bragg's plan was to damage Trump, but once he realized that he could never get a conviction he was at least smart enough to recognize that an acquittal would greatly strengthening Trump's standing with voters.
