I really don't understand what Alabama is trying to do here. IVF has helped millions of couples have children and now Alabama wants to classify embryo's as children. Meaning frozen embryo's that are not used and destroyed could cause parents and medical facilities to me charged with man slaughter. What am I missing here or did Alabama just really go off rails here.

All comes down to if you believe life begins at conception. Can’t say it does in a “natural ” situation but doesn’t here

So does this mean unused embryos will have to be stored for eternity or will the State seize them and implant them in someone else? If a lab tech drops an embryo container can they be charged with negligent homicide? Would an inheritance now have to be split between all children and however many embryos the parents still had frozen?

This ruling essentially made the state responsible for an untold number of frozen embryos in the future.

So what happens now? this all started with a case brought to the supreme court who's embryo's where destroyed in a lab incident. Those couples are bringing a wrongful death lawsuit against the lab. This ruling basically end's IFV in Alabama. If your that much of a conservative that you believe a frozen embryo is a human being and needs to be protected, can you all move to Alabama and leave the rest of us to make grown up decisions. I have many friends that have had children using IVF. My wife and I tried this and it didn't work so we stopped trying. Under this law we would be tried for manslaughter for the destruction of our frozen embryo's.

Hope you don’t live in Louisiana, because this has already been the law here. They can’t be destroyed here either and have to either be donated or sent to other states that allow disposal/destruction.

Interesting take that you have to be a Christian to have the opinion that life begins at conception.

Fewer Alabamans is the only bright side to this. It’s a shame the evangelicals want to prevent people from having kids.

I was raised strict Pentecostal, evangelicals are a damn curse on the Republican party. The Dems have the progressives and the GOP have the evangelicals. Both are cancers to their parties.

It is bad public policy, plain and simple.

None of this is true.

You can send your embryos to another state to be destroyed.

This doesn’t limit anybody’s ability to offer or use IVF.

All it does is give human rights to the embryo, it’s actually been that way in Louisiana for over a decade, and last I heard you can still offer and use IVF here.

This is sick. Alabama has got to be the most backward state in history.

Unfortunately it seems more and more people have to use IVF and other methods these days.

Everyone I know it seems had trouble conceiving the natural way. And a lot who were successful with pregnancy the natural way had miscarriages. I dunno why that is, but seems more common these days. Alabama law is dumb

While I do agree that a new human life begins at conception, I tend to think the real defining line is when the blastocyst embeds in the uterine wall at around 5 days
Which is why I fully support the plan b. I think plan b should be included in every rape kit

People are having kids later, in general.

A woman’s fertility goes down with age.

But yes, there are also some impacts from overall health, diet, plastics and chemicals in the food and water stream, etc.

But I’m sure leftists will claim “climate change” is to blame.
