If you can stay on parents insurance until 26, then that's when you become adult enough to drink, own guns, join the military. Our one size fits all arbitrary "age" is part of the problem. I know 50 year olds that should not be allowed to drink because they are not responsible.
We need a hard reset on responsibility and accountability.

I can not go that far with you Shiner. I know a lot of people who pay a lot of money to rent. They pay on time etc.. They simply do not want to own. They don't want the upkeep.
How about anyone who reports above the median income to the IRS? At least then we don’t have people who are in poverty making financial decisions for the rest of us.

21 for anything:
Driving without restrictions (18 wheeler etc.)
-obviously licensing is still required and “permits” would be staged up to 20 years of age. In short, no real change past 17. It pretty much is set up like this already.
Voting in Federal elections
Active duty (you can join the guard and that will count as time as time in service...if you frick up...you can’t serve in the major branches at 21).
Loans as the primary borrower. Co-signers - yes. We do this shite backwards imho. At the age of 21, the roles can be reversed.
Gun purchases. Gifts are fine, purchases - no.
It is a fine line, but one that I am comfortable with promoting.
Hard liquor / wine is out. Beer, etc. is fine at 18.
Weed should be legal but require a prescription if younger than 21 (older than 18).
Adult based entertainment (hooking is legal at 21). Pole dancing - 21. Porn -21.
Gambling - 21.
Running for political office at the federal level - 21.
ALL contracts (including NILs)...21.
You people are dumber and less mature now than at any point that I can remember.

Similar to being 13 and you’re not old enough to learn about sex ed, but you’re old enough to be forced to have a child, even when raped.

These arguments are such a shitty strawman.
At 18 you're an adult and should be able to drink, buy tobacco, buy guns, and go to war. The setup they have now on age barriers is fricking ridiculous.

It is almost like the human animal develops the maturity for different activities at different stages of development.
Mind … Blown.

If we can agree, for example, that California doesn't get credit for gold mined in South Dakota because the company is headquartered in San Francisco, I'd be good with your suggestion.

IMO, once you’re an adult, every “adult right” should be granted at the same time. Drinking, smoking, army, jury duty, voting, buying a gun, renting a car, renting a hotel, etc. All should be the same age. If you’re old enough to serve, you’re a fricking adult and should be able to have all of the privileges granted to adults.

Only property owners should be able to vote. That’s not even an age issue.
Some no life loser living in an apartment should not be able to decide who the leader of this country is.
Only owners of 1000 acres or more have an adequate stake in the future to be given the franchise.

Notice how I didn’t include “driving” as we allow “young adults” to drive?

I was taught in a psyc class in college the draft age is 18 because at that age your brain still thinks you are invincible
The problem is that an 18 y.o. may believe himself invincible enough to fight three opponents, or to drive home, after a fifth of whiskey.

I was taught in a psyc class in college the draft age is 18 because at that age your brain still thinks you are invincible … a few years older and the brain develops and more reasoning appears.. thus the draft before 21.. I grew up the legal drinking age was 18…

And allowed to stay on parent's insurance until 26 because their brains aren't fully developed but can vote, etc. Clown world.
