Yeah, but neither are the senators supposed to do whatever the hell they want. They are supposed to be somewhat responsive to the voters, and that’s exactly what elections are for. The voters made it very clear in this primary election that they want to go in a different direction. Your post makes it seem like US senators should be like the House of Lords.

They are supposed to be something akin to the House of the Lords. It’s why they have 6 year terms and weren’t directly elected until 1913.

The filibuster which Trump wants to end is a sort of accidental feature of the system which serves an important role especially in today’s day and age. If the republicans end it, next time democrats win all 3 branches, it’s fricking over.

Because the majority of America isn't the Trump Base. Most Americans prefer that our resources and young men and women are not deployed to the Gulf to fight Netanyahu's Zionist apocalyptic wars, or pay escalating prices for gas and for groceries, merchandise and services, or be assailed with the constant litany of lies from OMB. That is not who we are as Americans

I think you are reading the populace wrong or you are blinded by your hatred of Trump to the point that you are a deranged idiot.

The Senators are NOT supposed to be like European Members of Parliament who just mindlessly vote

Voting for the agenda of the people that put you in power is not a mindless vote dummy.

“Something akin” is doing a lot of work in that sentence. The Lords don’t have to face an election - not even indirectly as you pointed out that the US senators used to. The Lords are appointed by the monarch and most are hereditary. So the Lords are akin to our senators in the sense that they are all bipeds that are meant to be deliberative and not prone to sudden democratic whims, but they are very different from the US senate both before and after the means of ascent to the senate was changed.

I’ll add that the Lords have virtually no power compared to the US senate.

Turtle and the establishment continues to burn through money only supporting the establishment candidates so they will do the establishments bidding, instead of supporting the constituents preferred candidates that should execute the will of voters.
2024 election turtle wasted tons of election $ on candidates that couldn't beat the dem machine or voter fraud.

Now Thune and team won't protect the voters via the save act and are getting their butts kicked via grassroots turn out.
