Define poorer. Is Japan poorer than the US?

It’s not a difficult thing to think through if you have two brain cells to rub together.

Here's what makes it a little more difficult for those of us who have more than two brain cells to rub together:

When NAFTA was passed, the outflow was sharp and fairly immediate. Some people estimate as many as over 5 million manufacturing jobs left.

Why would it be different this time? Whenever your time frame is for all tariffs to be eliminated (which is exactly what NAFTA did for select countries), why wouldn't the same thing happen again?

In the short term some manufacturing will return.

Not without long term subsidies.

Then why do they not call out the hundreds of other countries that for decades have taken advantage of the US in trade?

You mistakenly believe (like most of your tribe) that trade deficits are directly tied to fiscal deficits.

Youre badly mistaken

I won't enter into conjecture about your tribe, but your understanding of economics is minimal. The two are directly tied, which is why they are often discussed together in economic literature as "twin deficits".

No.

History, economics, and common sense does.

This is like saying if your car is barely leaking oil it’s ok.

Stupid analogy from a DEI moron

Shouldn’t there be a plan? With real numbers attached to them? Like smart people adding it all up? Surely they have estimates for data inputs. Or should we just trust them and hope for the best? We have a saying at work, “hope isn’t a plan”

Sort of how I see it. I expect (or hope) there to be some brain trust pulling out the slide rules to see how things add up. I guess the administration is not willing to advertise battle plans for an economic war so I don’t expect a press conference detailing precise strategies and expectations for we plebeians.

I fear that DJT often swings from the floor dealing out haymakers when jabs and body shots will suffice. He says 10%, his adversary says, okay I’ll raise you, how do you like 20%? Trump goes emotionally apeshit and responds with 50%.

So yes, is there a thought out plan with hopes of bringing some balance to global trade and balance to the United States economy?

Are you not aware of the trillions already pledged to be invested?

Ok. Doesn’t change the fact that you couldn’t wrap your mind around how both could happen. Not your fault. The world needs ditch diggers too.

You don't have to believe me. Read the literature, or just google it and see how many hits you get. If understanding that, or posts like this ( This MAGA party will be short lived) make me a member of the MAGA tribe, so be it.
