Gosh I love this place!

The plan is to slap tariffs on other countries until they eliminate tariffs on us.
So the plan is NOT to force manufacturing back to 'Merca?

Absolutely.
There was a lot of MAGA support for longshoreman who went on strike to prevent automation.

I'm being 100% serious when I say there are some posters here right now who if you said, "Let's say that Trump's tariffs brought back 2 million manufacturing jobs, but in the US those jobs only pay $17 an hour. Would you support them unionizing and collectively bargaining to get that number up to $30 or $35 an hour?" I think they would say absolutely.
Nothing wrong with unions. It’s public unions and forced membership people disagree with. You’re smart enough to understand that. Don’t dumb yourself down to Roger’s level.

You think they are mutually exclusive?

Maybe even more than I would think. I might try it in a little while and see.
No H1B’s or illegals allowed though for this scenario correct?

"A poorer, whiter nation is better than a diverse 'economic zone'"
Did I do it right?

To a socialist, sure. Because you dont understand free markets.
You dumb frick. Using a trade deficit analogy where you offer nothing to trade is a poor argument. I understand you can’t wrap your mind around that…maybe just focus on advocating for higher death taxes.

Oh my god..
The purposes of them are conflicting.

He's an "economic zone" bro. The reference apparently went over your head.

In the short term some manufacturing will return. In the long term all tariffs will be eliminated. It’s not a difficult thing to think through if you have two brain cells to rub together.

What I'm smart enough to understand is that the popularity of something has nothing to do with whether it's a good idea or not.
And in fact, usually (although not always) the more popular an idea is, the worse it is.
I don't per se have anything against allowing unions—if individuals want to band together to negotiate terms, o.k, they should be able to do that, no one should prevent them—but it's kind of obvious that they artificially raise prices because they also artificially raise wages.
Whoever said it upthread is correct...if auto manufacturing is brought back here unions will cause the price of cars to rise, and then many of the people who wanted the manufactring back will be angry.

When did Trump tell you he would start a recession?
In that regard Trump is in the company of 100% of successfully elected US politicians from the past century. I judge politicians by their actions much more than their words. In that regard, Trumps action could, maybe, start us in the right direction, which is quite rare.

I never said otherwise. Why the straw-man?

Again…who argued otherwise?
Maybe I was giving you too much credit

Well you led off with Elon like he was in control, what did you forget?
I’m not privy to anything he told anybody else, lucky that you were in those particular conversations. As for me and most people I know we were expecting to see him rock the boat, tip over the apple cart and just piss off a bunch of other nations. We wanted this, we needed a collapse of the way things were done, outcomes we have been seeing and just simply enough of the Americans being brought into a crisis after crisis with a unimaginable one on the horizon. Have you ever taken over a company in crisis? Built a new one from scratch in a heavily competitive & regulated marketplace? Things don’t always go off without a hitch and sleeplessness and pain are always right there along side of you. It’s just amazing how fast people see their own perspective above everything else when a loss comes but will stand tall alongside someone when they have very little to do with the positive impact
