Anyone who downvotes this is the definition of a hypocrite if they celebrated our country’s 250th birthday yesterday.

Y’all got nothing. That’s what I thought.

Lol!! What is there to say??
Lincoln stated that blacks were inferior to whites and shouldn't be allowed to inter marry.
Slavery wasn't Lincoln's first, second, or third reason for the Civil War!
This fact is beyond debate.
I do agree that preserving the United States was worth all the war, but....
let's not be silly or ignorant of tbe reasons.

Lincoln was nothing more than a politician who was trying to do his job in keeping the country unified. Slavery was never on the top of his priorities.

I’d argue that John Quincy Adams was a better abolitionist and civil rights activist; he defended the La Amistad slaves and never billed a dime for his legal services.

I feel it’s a very overlooked sentiment of the North. It was very much a we don’t want them to be slaves but we don’t want them up here (or just here).

Who brought the blacks over by the millions? Our southern brothers.

Who profited? No not the common man of the south but the 1% here and the sellers there.

So defend the rich if you like them so damn much!

Enjoy your freedom to be stupid my friend.

Hear, hear.

Every other nation abolished slavery without civil war. No one's legacy has benefitted more from a scrubbed narrative than his.

Do you still consider VA the south because that's where it started to include one of the first slave owners, Anthony Johnson, a black man from Angola.

That would have killed the yankees narrative about why the south was fighting the war. To this day most people think the sole reason was “muh slavery”.

bingo. tariffs and many other states rights were also reasons for secession. not just slavery. hell less than 7% of southerners owned slaves. we had black slave owners in new orleans.

I DV'ed you. How can you celebrate the birth of this country through self determination by secession and not understand the Southern States applied the very same method for the very same reasons?

Moron.

Lincoln secured 600,000 dollars from Congress, to violate the laws of the country. To ships slaves to Latin America or back to Africa.

When his plans were revealed to Douglas and other so-called black leaders, a near riot broke out in the White House. It wasn’t until months later that Emancipation Act was created, freeing only the slaves in the south.

You liberal pinheads prove your stupidity every day.

They are willfully ignorant because it flies in the face of their agenda as spoon fed to them by a compliant media and education system. None so blind as those that refuse to see.

Was attempting to bait him as well.

Congress had passed a law prohibiting the colonies from building ships for the transport of slaves.

There was Lincoln, once again, trying to deny existing law.
