I'd like to see a cost analysis of how much money it will save the government in the future compared to how much tax payers have spent holding functions at third party venues in the past.

They don't wanna talk about that.

Or that.

At a time when our national debt to gdp ratio screams to cut costs on government spending, a gigantic gaudy ballroom, amounts to fiddling while DC burns

Private funding = no government spending. What more do you want?

And even if every dime is paid for by private “donors”, it’s a slap in the face to conservatives minded folks who object to our government selling out. This just invites manipulation

Explain to me how this is selling out. Events right now are held in tents outside. If you really think this is the way for events with foreign heads of state, well I am sorry but that is the Wal-mart way of doing things.
quote:

I hated when Clinton and Obama sold out the White House. I hated when Biden sold access to Ukraine or anyone who would pay for his son’s shakedown demands. I hate this too

So Presidents cannot have foreign dignitaries to the very place built to do that?

I do not get any of your argument.

These people are nuts. They are thinking:

"If only we continued to use tents like Obama did, do you realize how many children's dicks could be cut off without their parent's consent, with the money spent on construction costs? Or at least how many toothless methamphetamine addicted homeless bums could get shiny new veneers?"

These people don't have normal thought patterns.

The suggestion that it's necessary for White House security is obviously bullshite.

You do realize that the recently razed East Wing was built as cover (literally and figuratively) for the Presidential Emergency Operations Center aka PEOC aka underground secure bunker. Go look at pictures from 9/11 and you will see Cheney, Laura Bush, etc. inside the PEOC.

The old PEOC was built during WW2 to protect FDR from a potential air attack on DC. It was kept as modern as possible but the time has come to completely rebuild it, which meant tearing down the East Wing to grant access to the underground space.

The meme is a dumb as you are. I don't need to be Christian to see hypocrisy. I don't need to be Muslim to see hypocrisy. I don't need to be a dumbass Mormon to see hypocrisy.

Right, let's keep having events at the Washington Hilton where two assassination attempts have occurred

No.

Perhaps that is why they are not spending billions on it.

It's an entire office building.

It includes a reception hall to replace the tent they put up on the White House lawn.

You say this just a weeks after someone tried to storm in and shoot people up including our president.

Tell me you are retarded without actually telling me.

Hey, cut Obama some slack. His "library" might look horrendous, but it matches his presidency.

“Ghastly”

I read the body of the OP without seeing the name of the OP.

Then I said this sounded so bad and it was VOR.

And yet, as predicted, you made numerous conclusions about it.

First of all it’s being paid for with private donations so who cares? Secondly, don’t you think our nation’s house should have a ballroom in it? It’s honestly amazing it hasn’t been done decades ago. Or maybe you think its ok having foreign dignitaries and others sinking in the mud under the portable tent they use as a ballroom.

Yes it will be there for 100 years and our President should have a safe secure event center on the White House grounds, whoever it may be.

We’re the richest nation on Earth and we bring in tents and porta-potties for state sponsored events.
