What’s going to change? When will Harris county have fewer than 20 cases? Dallas County?

Texas will turn blue soon enough. Really isn’t much difference between Repub and Dem if the repubs aren’t going to stand up for Repub values.

Maybe they're looking into trends

When the mask ordinance went into effect in my county it was supposed to be a 2 week effort to slow things down

But if you’re making this for every county with 20 cases, unless you’re continuing that, it’s just an arbitrary bullshite number.

What do they care? None of those people in Texas's largest inner city populations weren't ever going to vote for Abbott, Patrick, or Trump. They're not going to listen anyway, and Authorities aren't going to be writing tickets for non compliance. They won't pay the fines if they did. It's like jaywalking.

Wasn't Abbott basically backing the protests and said they needed to happen?

I do love the tidbit around the order includes demonstrations and protests... Wouldn’t that fall under the 6 foot rule?

And like that would ever been enforced. Abbott trying to act tough.

Ok but if they’re talking active cases, then they should show active, recovered and split them out.

Besides I don’t trust the numbers so...

Abbott just looks ridiculous. When he opened up more than most states did he not realize cases were going to go up? So his plan was to freak out and shut bars down when that happened. After he just opened them up? Dude is a moron. Vote his arse out.

I don't think he thought they would spike this quickly, or that there would be a mass protest in the middle of all of this.

Exactly two weeks after the George Floyd protest, cases spiked. We never had more than 2,500 in a single day and on June 16 - BAM! - 4,413 cases. June 24 - 6,177 cases. Yesterday - 8,240 cases. With everybody hyperventilating.

No one is reporting that deaths haven't spiked.

Plus, I work in downtown Houston. Went to lunch in a food hall today. EVERYONE is wearing a mask. EVERYONE. So it's ordering people to do what they are already doing.

It's not just about Houston. He is ordering the whole state. If your liberal crap hole of Houston wants to do dumb crap then do it.

Houston is the one adding all of the cases. 1,200 today.

He has done a very, very poor job with this matter. I don't know who is directing this for him but he would be better served to find someone else.

I tend to support him but his performance has been horrific to date.
