AR times

quote:

In a 19-page order entered just before 3 p.m. on Thursday, Judge Ralph Wilson Jr. dismissed the criminal charges against Aaron Spencer, the Lonoke County father charged with murder in 2024 after killing the man accused of molesting Spencer’s teen daughter.

quote:

The dismissal was due to Lonoke County Sheriff’s deputies mishandling of evidence, which the court said was crucial to Spencer’s ability to prove that he was justified in shooting Michael Fosler in October 2024. The court said failure to preserve the evidence — a memory card from a dash camera in Fosler’s truck — violated Spencer’s right to due process and amounted to conduct “so egregious that it warrants dismissal.”

This is the case were the father found a former sheriff deputy with his daughter and killed him. The former deputy had already raped her once and the sheriff wouldn’t protect the family.

Spencer won the republican primary for sheriff.

I'm glad the charges were dismissed, but the story behind this doesn't really inspire pride in the south. Instead, it showed why southern small town politics can be a very bad thing. The GOBN almost fricked this guy bigly.

Yep, the AR supreme Court had to remove the judge that was originally on the case because of her questionable/ridiculous rulings.

Rapist, especially child rapists, should get the death penalty. Don’t drag it out decades either. Every state in the south should pass laws like this so the pedos move up north or out west

I'm not familar with this case and don't see this information in the linked story, but how did Spencer's daughter get into Fosler's truck? Did he break in to the house and kidnap her? Or was he grooming her?

Pretty sure the military buddy system was more the problem.

The local cops said, “boy it sure would be something if that dashcam footage got lost wouldn’t it?” Good for them.

Fair point although I’m sure every small town has similar power matrix regardless of geography.

The guy that was killed had already kidnapped and raped the girl prior and was arrested for that. But the sheriff wouldn't do anything else. I don't know if the dead guy was out on bail or what but he kidnapped her again and when the parents discovered she wasn't home they called the cops and the father left to find them. He did and the dead guy attacked him and the father shot and killed him.

The father was then arrested for murder.

It happens too often. I know a elderly man (who that uses a cane to get around). One day the police came around and wanted to search his farm. They found a cement mixer that had an rfid type chip in it covered with sticks and leaves on the back of the property. His son grew up with the town thief that knew this man kept his key under the truck mat and came in the middle of the night to use the truck to haul it and hide it.

He went to court and he was found guilty even though the thief texted him that he was sorry. The judge wouldn't allow any evidence and the man lost his social security because it was considered a federal crime as the mixer was worth over $1500.

That article is wild. It’s crazy that the judge and the sheriffs office were so blatantly corrupt in defending a pedophile.
