I know you're being facetious, but I've sat on hiring boards for the police department. You'd be surprised at the number of 22 year old kids that are expecting Command Staff pay and schedule on day 1. They'll tell you straight-up "working nights and weekends doesn't really work for me." They're promptly told to GTFO. Entitled little fricks.

I was asked about my expectations of schedule during my oral board.

Me: "I just assumed that rookie patrolmen worked weekend nights."

Lieutenant: "You assumed correctly."

Back in the day, we "trained our pattern-seeking circuits" by taking second and third jobs and whatever other work we could find to get ahead.

When I was in my early 20s around the turn of the century, I was single, entirety independent, actually financially supporting my jobless dad, working two jobs, playing gigs with the band on weekends and getting laid often, renting my own home, and I owned a slick Silverado, a '91 Harley softtail and a 17' 1995 Nitro bass boat.

And that was after being raised in a household so poor that the roaches ate better than me, by a dad who didn't exactly do the best job of teaching me the value of employment and the work/reward lessons. (GOD rest his soul and I love him to no end and always will, but he and I both know he could have done better. Still very thankful for all the things he did right.)

What GenZ lacks is motivation. Period. The Internet age has provided too many people with instant gratification, and real life doesn't work that way. Playing Halo on your fricking Xbox won't give you the skills you need to thrive in this world.

If you're GenZ on this board and suffering from anything these Redditers are, reply and I'll happily mentor you.

Much of this is self created but I can sympathize with it a little bit. I’m a millennial and struggle with the future economic outlook after this massive round of inflation. I make a little over $100k per year and don’t see how I will be able to afford a home in Dallas without raising my income by about $50k. Wish I would have bought a starter home 4 years ago when I could find a decent one for $350k and now the same house is about $600k. It is depressing

Yup. Get out and bust your arse.
My youngest stepson is 25. As far as we know he's the youngest driller in North Texas, been making 6 figures for a few years now.
Of course he's still a dumbass 25 year old that's broke all the time, pays $1500/month in child support and has the biggest collection of fishing rods and reels I've ever seen in my life.. but he's no pussy. Gonna be a helluva man when he grows up.

Naah. Just Boogieman.

The usual shadow financial-luciferian overlords based in the city-states of London-DC-Vatican (HQ'd in Brussels-Davos) have always always wielded actual control and advanced an agenda to enslave the West AND entire world.

As of 2020 they finally felt it safe to emerge out of the shadows to let everyone know who they are, what they are -- and their End Game.

yeah. I get this completely. I've worked hard and have been blessed. making a smidge over 150. recently paid off house. so we're pretty financially stable. but I'm telling you, money is still not easy. I felt much more secure making 70k 7-8 years ago. I do think the gen z era have it tough but it's their own doing. somehow things like fiber internet, a 1500 dollar cell phone with 70-100 dollar a month service, Hulu, Netflix, and trans dating site subscriptions became "necessities." That's a good $500 dollars/month that they feel like they HAVE to spend that previous generations didn't.

EVERY single passing generation of man in the modern day West (post-1860s) has been deceived and manipulated to become weaker by an "underground" Globalist-luciferian agenda.

Gen Z Boys-Men has especially been hit hard and sabotaged every which possible way -- physically, mentally and emotionally -- and especially spiritually.

It began in the 1950s with the med profs dismissing Mother's Milk as crucial to health, giving way to cows milk, then Soy Formula for Gen Z.

Gen Z has been vaxxed like a pin cushion since infancy, damaging his immune & endocrine system right out of the womb for a litany of imaginary diseases, his DNA and every bodily system weakened forever; his foods degraded and poisoned since the 1990s by overuse of GMOs, Glyphosates, (leading to routine allergies) female hormones, plastics, Chem fertilizers and Chen-fogs in air, water & soil...

Gen Z has been drugged up since childhood to "remediate" and remove "toxic aggression", then later on a purge of "toxic Masculinity" -- gleefully emasculated by his K-12 teachers and female Principals -- frustrated ugly, anti-tradition Leftist hags...

Gen Z boys & young men been told he mattered LESS in ALL ways than girls -- and been discipline to ACT less masculine, less his nature.

Gen Z males have been "educated" and indoctrinated by the Media, brainwashed parent(s), TV & Movies and Culture from Pre-K to College to be self-loathing NPCs -- feminine, effete and hypersensitive flowers at that.

Gen Z men have been told outright that their gender is "toxic"; he's gotten bypassed in schools and opportunities his entire life despite higher qualifications.

Gen Z's father all too often has been either absentee or not emotionally or physically available himself for his reasons as a result of the continued social-cultural-psychological sabotage of the Western male. (Female are yet another story, sabotaged but bearing blame as well.)

Gen Z has been convinced by the culture that there is no God -- the greatest sin committed against him.

In short, Gen Z Men have been traumatized as a matter of DESIGN by those who run the "Control Grid of All Systems". He never had a chance. He has been sabotaged Since Day One.

NOT. HIS. FAULT.

First, don't believe that there's anything you're dealing with that's not been seen before. You think inflation is bad now, when I was just out of school it was running much hotter than it is now and mortgage rates ran well north of 15% (30-yr fixed). And my circumstances were much better than those that prevailed for my parents at that age, and they had it a shite ton better than what my grandparents endured.

Second, understand things are cyclical. As difficult as the current environment is to buy a first house, it wasn't that long ago it was a great time to buy.

Out of curiosity, what would it cost you to build a 1500 sq ft home on the outskirts of the metroplex that has circa 1980 starter home features/finishings?

It is depressing

Maybe I'm just cold-hearted but I don't understand this. Why is it depressing because some things aren't easy right now? Something to keep in mind - in general, life gets better and easier with time, and there are few periods of time this isn't true.

You DO realize there's been a total up-ending of 6,000 years of traditional and natural gender roles in the last 15 years, right?

It's a "situation" out there for males -- something NOT discussed much, if at all.

Not every self-respecting young men wants to frick hookers and whores and do blow as a substitute for his "manhood".

My little nephew is a great looking kid in NWA from a great family with money, good upbringing etc. He's like 17 and pretty sure he's an incel.

He'll look like Joe Burrow in 5 years but right now he's a boy who will be a late bloomer. He's a stick and has zero confidence and his grades are shot. Not even trying. He's a zombie and I'm guessing he's addicted to porn and the troubles that come with that (while being a virgin).

No idea how to help him bc my bro in law is real territorial and flipped out when I sent him Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate videos.

He was probably just concerned that a guy wearing women’s leggings was sending videos to his son.
