The issue is who decides. You should know that.

a member of his family, a school official, or a police officer can go to court to secure an order that permits police to seize his weapons

So domestic liars like Amber Heard, bureaucratic teachers or administration, or insane egomaniac butthurt police officers get to take your rights away. For how long?
quote:

Red flag laws:

a) do not punish innocent people for the actions of a shooter (unlike bans on guns and other regs)

b) give the accused a right to explain himself before his weapons are taken

c) are designed specifically for mentally ill mass shootings, rather than general gun violence

Re flag laws:
a) do punish innocent people for the actions of criminals
b) no one is obligated to explain why they should retain their rights
c) will immediately be used to strip away the basic human right of self defense

Your whole theory requires people to defend themselves against things they “might” do in the future. So I’m essentially on trial for something that I have the potential to do in the future but have not yet actually done?

Why is one worse than the other? Because it makes a big news story splash and hurts your feelings more than a black kids getting killed one or two at time in the ghetto?

So if the person gets upset one day and irrationally makes a comment that they should just kill themselves, even though they would never really do that, that person should have their right to own a gun restricted or taken away?

I rarely post but I have to on this subject. You are asking a corrupt, self centered, group of humans (politicians) to write a well written, well defined red flag. You truly are an idiot.

The Patriot Act was NEVER to be used on American citizens
A red flag law ends in Dems saying that all conservatives are a threat and confiscating their guns

Hey OP. I’m hoping a mentally deranged individual takes out Biden, Pelosi, Schumer and a few others.

And have you paid any attention to the mental health profession of late? My constitutional rights should not be subject to their "expertise."

The mental health industry is, and always has been, a sham.

And the penalty for filing a false "Red Flag" Report to initiate the confiscation of a persons firearms and ultimately what will be thousands of dollars in legal fees to prove their innocence should be public execution of the false reporting person without trial or delay.

See other wise anti gun nuts will just use this to attack anyone and everyone who owns guns. It already happens, it's called "Swatting".

But in general this is a stupid suggestion that will make more problems for law-abiding people than criminals. as usual.

So we give the government the power to seize property because someone might do something harmful.

And we are going to have police go and physically take these guns from people for a might...

Oh yeah, that won't end badly.

Nope, nope, nope.
Unless you haven’t noticed, the Left thinks everyone who is a conservative or is white is a violent mentally disturbed person. They’ll use the flimsiest excuses to confiscate all our guns.
No, just plain no!
