He should then self-educate himself starting with home schooling materials starting from grade 1. He can then blame nobody but himself if he does not "get it".
If he self-educates, then he has no one to blame and sue for doing less than the bare minimum

How is that remotely possible? I could be wrong but I could spell my name in Kindergarten or at least by first grade.
Something isn’t adding up here.

If this lawsuit is successful the vast majority of inner city school boards in America will be bankrupt within a year. The Orleans Parish School Board would have to shut its doors for good.

A 3.4 GPA is not possible without knowing how to read, unless teachers were just rubber stamping everything or doing the work for him.
It's called 'promoting self esteem.'

Dumbass, should be suing his parents and then self sue. fricking idiot.
As the saying goes, I can you books, take you to school but I can't make you learn.

The implications of this are massive
I’m actually shocked that there hasn’t been a class action lawsuit brought against the DOE, as well as, individual state departments of public education.
It’s not hyperbole to make the legal arguments that millions of high school students basic metrics for graduation were not even remotely attainable, but were rubber stamped due to the Covid restrictions. Every single one of them and any junior college, college, university, or trade school that accepted them based upon those academic records would be plaintiffs to that Fraud.

James Brooks graduated from Auburn in 1981 without being able to read.

His parents are more to blame than the high school.

Bush Jr. Was a bad president all around.

Nope, can’t do that, parents are not accountable, only institutions. The hand that rocks the cradle no longer rules the world. The nuclear family is on life support, it’s demise fully funded by rich Uncle Sam.

Has anyone tested him for dyslexia?

OPSB was DOA after Katrina which led to a total state education and facilities rebuild.

It was close to a total state takeover
It pretty much was taken over by The state with the Recovery School District. OPSB was a bastion of corruption.
I know people with no ties to public schools in the city think it’s total garbage but the fact is that’s it not. Both my kids that are in public school read above grade level. But they have parents who care that they know how to read.
Parents bear NO responsibility for their own kids anymore. It’s a real tragedy.

I’m not going to let the school district off the hook but where were his parents? There’s no way I wouldn’t know if my high schooler couldn’t read

Don’t blame the kid. He didn’t pass himself. Blame the school board, teachers and the admins themselves. They are at fault.
