I'm not the coroner. I don't even know what the size of the entry wound is. I saw the video of it happening in real time and don't want to see it or another one of Charlie's death again.
But something I do know is that the high quality pictures of him at the vent do not show him wearing a vest.

He is wearing a chain around his neck with what appears to be a cross on it. The line in his shirt in the video is likely the outline of the chain hanging around his neck as it is moving upward. Many photos of him that day clearly show his physique through his shirt...pecs and nipples.

He is wearing his chain and a mic that records his audio for livestreams and clips too. It is clipped on the front, right side of his shirt. The cord is running across his chest and to a battery pack, presumably in one of his pockets or on his waistband.
You are correct. When the force knocks his body back, the chain and cord stay in place as the shirt moves around it. Momentum and inertia and all that stuff school was about.

Typically, insulting other people doesn’t improve one’s own emotional state. In fact, it usually has the opposite effect. It’s clear you have a lot of anger and frustration that’s causing you to lash out at strangers on the internet. Journaling would probably be more productive than hurling more insults at me.

Here is the better question. Why does it matter if he was or wasn't?
If this shooting never happened and somebody said that Kirk wears body armor under his clothes when he does these forums, I wouldn't think anything of it. There are some unstable people that come to these events and they are very public. That wouldn't be an unreasonable thing to do.
Let's say he was wearing body armor and it deflected the bullet (unlikely), again, so what? If he wasn't wearing it, he gets shot dead center of the chest and probably still dies.
