These are mostly middle class, college educated people that are leaving.

Louisiana is basically Texas' workforce development program.

I left in 2005 and regret the decision I made. If I could make a living, I would move back to Louisiana in a heartbeat. I am in Virginia and this anti-gun BS and Democrats wanting to tell everyone how to live their lives, makes me want to leave now. It is BAD!

Yeah, I don't understand not wanting that demographic to move to your state. That's exactly the type of people that you want to attract.

Louisiana is pretty industry specific as far as its viability in making a decent living. I work in IT and it's been mostly fine for me. I could make more in Seattle or California but my COL would be much higher too.

Thats why the legislature should cut TOPS. Why should we continue to pay for college for a bunch of kids that are going to move to Houston and Dallas as soon as they graduate?

Unfortunately, self proclaimed fiscal conservatives preach spending cuts but don't want the entitlements they take advantage of the be cut. TOPS at the state level and Medicare at the federal level are good examples.

No excuse for this:

Agreed. Tops is a joke but many "conservatives" don't want that Gravy train pulled out from under them either.

I love our state and never plan to leave again. I left right after LSU and lived in Indiana for 3 years, 8 months and 14 days. Missed LA every day I was there and was so glad to move back. I guess given the topic all the negative folks have chimed in. Why not stay and do something to help make LA better rather than just complain about it. Honestly I hope all of you leave and leave soon. Maybe it will drop the cost of crawfish this season.

Hope you’ve considered that it’s probably not conservative people leaving. JBE won because the other party couldn’t put up for election a viable candidate.

The only folks who don’t see a problem with Louisiana are basic bitches and low IQ types. Generally, these are the people whose lives revolve around deer season, crawfish, and wood ducks on tailgates. Louisiana has some great hunting and fishing but we can’t keep banking on these same things forever while the state sinks further into the abyss. Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and others have passed Louisiana in quality of life.

That’s been an ongoing process that pre-dates JBE by probably 50+ years.
