This isnt just a political thing. It's an economic and moreso cultural thing.
There are simply a higher quantity and quality of jobs outside of LA than inside it.
A more prevalent problem is that Louisiana work culture has a tendency to be VERY cliquey. Certain businesses put groupthink, status, and generally hiring people who think exactly like they do. You may not work in that environment but many other people do.

The only thing our governor has ever done well was his starring role in The Goonies. Of course people are leaving.

That's the problem. But of course politics, economics and culture are interconnected.

I have heard that before. I am not saying it isn't true, but the idea that this is in top 20 issues facing our economic is silly.
tax structure that is:
-overly complex
-anti business
poverty
terrible elementary and secondary schools
poor allocation of college dollars (though this is getting better)
crime
insurance cost
skilled labor shortage
professional labor shortage
crap infrastructure
terrible state-local balance
unhealthy populace
citizen apathy
corruption
government waste
That's 15 off the top of my head.

anti business
This is the only part I dont quite agree with. Louisiana does have businesses, but they dont hire enough relative the sheer number of graduates Louisiana produces. Combine that with the fact that graduating classes are getting bigger every year.
Even if we close down 50% of post secondary schools, we still would have too many graduates vs the businesses. Most of those people will either go to another school (LSU,etc.), go community college, or move out of state.
As for staring a new business, I admit that I don't know anything about that.

citizen apathy
Maybe it's because I spend too much time on here but LA citizens do seem more apathetic than most. Overall quality of life is pretty similar to MS, AL, parts of AR yet you don't see them shitting on their states as much.

My wife and I left Louisiana in 1986 (lived in Metro ATL for 27 years) but have returned in our retirement. Returning has been wonderful and living in BR beats the crap out of living in Metro ATL. Lower taxes (property and income) and lower insurance rates (car and home). You can have the ATL and its generic strip mall culture and traffic abyss.

Quite a few folks from LA came to KC after Katrina.....they’re probably all MAGA conservatives by now.

I hope more leave. Good riddens.
I like rural Louisiana and higher paying jobs.

I’ve advised my two boys to leave ASAP, another 4 years of our Shyster Governor that hates our industry will create even more jobs for them in Texas. I have to stick it out since my elderly Dad isn’t going to move, but I’ll be out of here like a rocket ship as soon as he passes.

Of course there are more good paying jobs elsewhere when our idiot Governor turns down $8B manufacturing investments and those go to Texas.

18 here as well.
I've lived in Japan, Texas, Utah, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Arizona.
I have also met transplanted liberals in every one of those states(minus Japan) that have no clue that their supported policies destroy the states they moved from.

Why? These are mostly middle class, college educated people that are leaving. This isn't Katrina 2.0. The thugs aren't going anywhere unless they are forced to.
