since covid started. that industry has a high fail rate so it's not surprising. No major impact on our country because of this.

Retail hit the second hardest with business that have closed.

A bit surprised travel companies didn't hsve more closures.

Companies that would have major impacts on society survived.

Beg to differ.

Almost 15 million people are employed by restaurants alone. That doesn't include the entirety of the hospitality industry.

60% of the restaurants closing in your city will be felt.

A strong number of those seem to have little on their plate other than collecting their unemployment bonus checks that they are busy vandalizing and committing arson.

Isn’t that based on data by the dying platform known as Yelp? Hardly used anymore and not exactly a trustworthy source.

So you don’t think that hundreds of thousands of restaurant and hospitality workers being unemployed and getting taco eater funded unemployment benefits will have an impact?

Jots because you don’t feel it in your little redneck of the woods doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

Grocery stores are making a killing especially WalMart. Also, restauranst with a solid pickup service are thriving. What sucks is that those restaurants that relied on "atmosphere" are pretty much SOL.

Outside of some very upscale restaurants (New Orleans maybe?), most of the service/hospitality industry people I knew were young folks, college kids looking for spending money, or otherwise young and not yet into something like an industrial/contracter job. These were people who liked the late hours, and liked to party. Waiters, bartenders etc.

Not being mean, but they don't necessarily impact society.

A number of long time eateries have permanently closed in my area. Most of the fast food chain places are still drive thru only.

Will be several “under new ownership” restaurants revived post covid plus brand new restaurants. The economy will determine how many of those emerge.

in my city about half have closed their doors. A large number of small scale business ventures have closed their doors and windows are cleaned out. I know of one of them that already started up a new business.

The only reason travel companies haven’t been hit harder are that you can defer trips and you aren’t keeping inventory in stock.

Restaurants have rapidly rotating stock that goes bad.

Retail possibly has stock which is seasonal and you may be stuck selling at a loss depending on situation (ex - If beaches are closed for summer, you take a loss on beach items.).
