It is a pretty easy shot…with no pressure and your gun on a solid rest. This guy apparently popped up over a rooftop and had a second or two to acquire his target and fire. All while pumping adrenaline believing he was “saving the world.” I just hope he lived long enough to know he failed.

100 yards is iron sights distance.

I must suck. My upper limit with my 1892 Winchester is 75 yards to hit an 8” diameter target.

I can hit a 100 yard shot with 100% accuracy lying down with a scoped rifle

I can hit a head 10/10 on irons at 100 yards with an AR. I'm better than average, but not necessarily great.

Trump also turned his head right before the shot tightening the target just enough or that bullet goes right into the back part of his skull.

For all the Carlos Hathcocks saying this shooter couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn, we are but a millisecond away from having a very different turn of events. Trump is very fortunate to be alive.

Any deer hunter in the south can shoot 200-300 yards. Most of us can shot up to 500 yards. Really experienced up t 700-800 yards. If SS can’t shoot someone at 100-200 yards they need to be replaced.

It was simply chance (and mere inches over 100+ yards) we aren’t memorializing Trump instead of talking about him leaving the hospital. Nobody prevented the shooter from carrying out his plan. This was a complete failure.

Decent response to neutralize the shooter after the fact, but that doesn’t save/protect Trump’s life.

Complete SS incompetence, at best.

Such absolute incompetency that it is impossible to rule out complicity by the SS.

Just the media showing their typical dumbassery when it comes to anything closely resembling firearms.

Nothing new.

You're correct. This exemplifies a BIG problem w/ the media. They are ignorant on most subjects they report on. Nevertheless, they report on the subject as if they're an expert, thereby completely changing the story.

100 yards is nothing. That should have been a easy killshot. Only by the grace of God is Trump still alive

Guys on here are talking about being able to shoot a golf ball from that far away and further, that is absurdly impressive to the lay person.

I sight in my deer rifle at 100 yards every year. The goal is a max 2” grouping dead center and 1” high as most of my deer are 150+ yards out. If this guy had any practice at all, he should have been able to hit his target.

Most likely the kid was amped up with his heart beating 150+ bpm and jerked the trigger pull. That, combined with the pure grace of God that Trump turned his head to the right at the last moment is the only reason Trump is alive right now.

Trump isn't a small target. His head is a relatively good size target for 100 yards with iron sights and time to make a good shot.

100 yards is a football field.

Not a long distance at all.

Me @ 100 yards with iron sights. That was my first target after not shooting for a couple years.

Gotta get that shot group in tighter. 3 shots no more than 3 cm apart. Zero the weapon, get your shot group, and then dial in.

Look at this realistically, As a Drill Sgt we taught couch potatoes that he never seen a rifle to zero and consistently shoot silhouettes at 300 meters using an M16A1 with peephole sights, in under a week (more like < 20 hours of real training)...that was 40 years ago, using Army rifles that were not very necessarily well maintained and mistreated by 100s or more of different people.

100 meters is a rock toss.

if you don’t know shite about guns or using them (like me) you might consider that long range

For a pistol? Yes

For a rifle? No. It's not even mid range for most.

You are incorrect in thinking media ignorant on what constitutes a long range shot.

They are well aware and trying to frame this as long range outside perimeter to protect the SS and Biden’s decision not to add security.
