Biggest bargain in baseball, but extension coming soon more than likely

While reports swirl about their long-term contract talks the Angels have given Mike Trout a $1 million salary for 2014, which is almost double what they were required to pay him based on his service time.

I think they sign for a 6/7 year deal around 15 million a year, still a bargain and allows him to test FA again around age 29/30

Trout's worth it. Pujols on the other hand...

If he signs that, his agent shouldn't just be fired, he should be killed. If I'm Trout, I don't sign for any term longer than 6 years, and I want an AAV of $25-30 million. Otherwise, I'll just take my 3 years of arbitration and get $30-40 million on the open market.
His arbitration awards are gonna be huge anyway.

I just hope that they sign him to an extension soon. Don't need this hanging over our world series run this year.

Yeah, anybody thinking otherwise doesn't have a clue.

ESPN sent out a text alert on 2/23 saying the Angels were negotiating a 6 year 150 million contract with Trout. Is he trying to get more?

I don't know if he reaches 25-30 million a year, maybe 18-22 though. He is young and no matter what they sign him for will be huge for him. I've seen 150 over 6 on a couple of blogger sites so maybe he gets that 25 million a year

If I'm his agent, I would.

i think he would get more than $150 million, but i guess it'd be hard to pass that up

He's the best player in baseball and isn't even in his prime yet. Dude will come close to 30 a year.
Posted on 2/26/14 at 12:04 pm to SabiDojo
He will be a 30 million a year player eventually

No kidding... as young as he is someone will give him a 6 year / 150 with no problem if he goes off this year

22 years old a 6 year deal puts him a FA at 29 (assuming deal begins next year) holy smoke
Earliest he can be a FA would be what 26 (I'm not sure) if he waited out his arbitration years?

He's worth that now, not eventually. If I'm the Angels, I'd rather pay him bank now and earn that value back, then I would let him walk after his peak to the Yanks.
